Church of Santa Maria Maior, Nave2, Barcelos
Portugal

The Church of Santa Maria Major Current is a reconstruction of the second quarter of the fourteenth century, on a Romanesque pre-existence, and was commissioned by the 3rd Count Barcelos D.Pedro Afonso, whose weapons are recorded in the archivolts of the axial portal. During the restoration of DGMEN in 1927 the 3 chapels of the headboard were rebuilt following the original foundations demolished in the sixteenth century. The tiles panels are 1721 and cover the church's body with episodes of the virgin life.
