Coimbra, Convent of Santa Cruz Church, Main Chapel
Portugal

Rectangular space built (1507-1518) by master Jacques Boytac during the Manueline campaign on the primitive Romanesque, polygonal and smaller chapel. The cross-ribbed vault has the central closing stones with the emblem of King Manuel (Royal shield). The tombs (1518-35) of D. Afonso Henriques and D. Sancho I are attributed to Diogo de Castilho and Nicolau Chanterrene. The chair was removed in 1531 when the high choir was completed, allowing space for the current tombs. The high altar with the throne of the Most Holy is from the century. XVIII. The blue and white tile friezes of the 19th century. XVIII, relate episodes from the life of the first prior of the monastery, S. Teotónio.
