Corran Narrows, Loch Linnhe
Scotland

The Corran Point lighthouse stands on the western side of Loch Linnhe, at the Corran Narrows, where the opposite shores of the tidal sea loch narrow significantly. It is one of many such lights scattered around Scotland’s rugged coastline built by successive generations of engineers from the Stevenson family for the Northern Lighthouse Board.

Corran is one of the few remaining mainland vehicle ferries in Scotland. Operated by the Highland Council, she links Nether Lochaber and Ardgour across the Corran Narrows, near Fort William. Although the crossing is less than 500 metres and takes only a few minutes, it can save a road journey of more than an hour.
