Driving on the California coast, on highway one, is something that everyone should do once in their lifetime, if they get the chance. Driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco on this route is not the shortest way, but it is exceedingly beautiful. I would not advice driving it alone, as I did; or driving it in the rain, as I did. At any rate, it was worth it despite both of these drawbacks of my journey.
