Echo Wash, Lake Mead NRA, Nevada, USA

The waters have receded over the last decade from below the upper campground at Echo Bay in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.  Echo Wash runs dry except during storms down to the water's edge near the marina in the distance.

Across the wash to the south, the volcanic rocks of the Black Mountains rise above the Jimbilnan Wilderness.  To the north and west, the gray limestone of the Muddy Mountains stand above their skirts of red sand stone.  This is a land of extraordinary colors.
