The Frauenkirch is a small church, beautifully situated above the valley in Davos Frauenkirch, Switzerland. It was built in the mid-14th century by the Walsers and dedicated to Our Lady, that is, Mary of Nazareth, the mother of Jesus.

The Walsers immigrated around 1280, at the end of an avalanche. In 1602, the Frauenkirche was destroyed by an avalanche and rebuilt the following year on the same site, this time with a large avalanche wedge. Why did the Walsers build a church where large avalanches still fall in snowy winters? This is probably because the place has been considered a place of power since time immemorial, a place where people experienced heaven and earth in a special way. Frauenkirch is popular for weddings. Of particular note is the colored organ installed by Georg Hammer in 1823.
