Fuerte Español Niebla - Valdivia

The strong system of Valdivia, also known as a whole, as the Key to the South Sea, is a set of fortifications or strongholds located in the Bay of Corral, near the city of Valdivia, in southern Chile; created in the period of the Colony of Chile. It was one of the systems strengths and greatest defensive castles built by the Spanish in America. Its main mission was to defend the city of Valdivia of foreign colonial powers, pirates and privateers. Similarly served as a supply base for the Spanish ships that crossed the Cape Horn.
