Holy Trinity Cathedral in Perm
Russia
Holy Trinity Cathedral Perm merchant Yegor Shavkunov, being the mayor, dreamed of building a church on the Sludskaya mountain. He did not manage to get the permission of the Synod and bequeathed capital to his son so that he would fulfill his dream. In 1849, a new one-domed church with a three-tiered bell tower, which at that time was visible in all parts of the city, was consecrated. The main throne is in honor of the Holy Trinity, the right chapel is dedicated to the Great Martyr George, and the left one is dedicated to Elijah the Prophet. In the 1930s, when all the churches were closed, this fate did not escape the Holy Trinity Church: a children's colony was placed in its building, but in 1944 the church was allowed to open. Since then it has been the main church of Perm. Built in 1845-1849.
