Originally built as a simple timber framed structure in the 11th C the fabric of the church was in very poor condition by the 1900's and it was encased in a brick shell and a tiled roof added in 1912. Fortunately the magnificent Georgian interior was preserved intact. The white painted box pews with their simple black capping rails contrast with the ornate triple decker pulpit, one of the very few still remaining. At the time that it was built the coastline was very different and the shore line would only have been a few metres away. More information at https://theromneymarsh.net/lostchurches
