Kabacam Erdemli Vr Mersin 426
Turkey
It is 5 km to the west of Kanlıdivane Archeological Site in Erdemli District, Mersin. The road crossing the city divided it into two. As a result the city developed in both directions. There are houses, olive oil workshops, a basilica and a tower in the city. A Muslim cemetery is also included in the necropolis area, which hosts tombs with inscriptions and other khamasorian-type tombs. In the same place, we can see a structure –probably a monumental tomb- and local Roman road. Going down this road, we reach a place facing Hisarkale Fortress. Lintels of the doors are decorated with grape reliefs and Herakles’s club. Expanding a very large area, the antique city dates back to the Late Roman and Byzantine periods.
