Knole Country House, Stone Court
England
This is house started as a palace for the Archbishop of Canterbury, but exchanged hands many times until 1605 when it was given by Queen Elizabeth to Thomas Sackville. It stayed in his decedents ownership until 1947 when it was gifted to the National Trust.
