A view of the southwest wall of the Hardknott Roman Fort in the Lake District below Hardknott Pass, England. Known as Mediobogdum during Roman Britain, the fort was built b/w 120AD & 138AD & was abandoned about a decade later during the advancement of the Roman Empire further north. It was used again around 200AD & for the next two centuries before being permanently abandoned. The exterior walls contain four gates, a granary & praetorium, as well as thermae (bath house) just outside the compound. Picturesque views of the Lake District region w/ the single lane road leading up to Kardknott Pass.
