竹林山觀音寺位於林口鄉菁湖村竹林路上，主祀神明為『十八手觀世音菩薩寶像』，是由福建省晉江縣安海龍山寺分靈來臺；竹林山觀音寺命名的由來，是因為由蘆竹、林口、龜山三鄉信眾共同供奉，故取蘆竹之『竹』、林口之『林』、龜山之『山』而得名。

竹林山觀音寺雖然不是年代久遠的古剎;但建築仍然沿襲我國南方傳統風貌。魏峨壯麗、莊嚴肅穆。兩側鐘鼓樓巍然聳立，極為壯觀。寺裡的中庭，更是寬闊，可以容納千人同時參拜。
