Magical hour over Friedrichsfehn
Deutschland
Friedrichsfehn is an interesting place, which is primarily characterized by its location and history as a moor colony. Here is the most important information: Location and affiliation: District: Friedrichsfehn belongs to the municipality of Edewecht in the Ammerland district (Lower Saxony). Proximity to Oldenburg: It is very close to the outskirts of Oldenburg (about 6 km away), making it a popular place to live for commuters. Special features: The Wildenloh: The most striking landmark of Friedrichsfehn is the Wildenloh, a large mixed forest and state forest that is an important local recreation area. Among other things, it is home to the oldest trimming course in Germany (created in 1972). Originally, the Wildenloh was a wooded hill in the middle of a moorland. Fehn name without a canal: Although the name has the component "-fehn" (which often indicates a typical Fehn canal), there was never such a canal in Friedrichsfehn. The term here is derived from "Fenn/Veen", which simply means "moor" or "swampy lowland" in Low German. Founder's story: The name is closely linked to its neighboring town of Petersfehn. The towns were founded by the brothers Friedrich and Peter, hence the name. History & Development: Friedrichsfehn emerged as a moor colony. The founders first had to reclaim the difficult moorland. The colony later benefited from road connections, which made it easier to transport the burned peat cut there to the Oldenburg market. Due to its attractive location and proximity to Oldenburg, Friedrichsfehn experienced a strong influx in the second half of the 20th century and the designation of large building areas for young families. Cultural: The “Speelkoppel Friedrichsfehn” maintains the tradition of Low German theater and performs plays once a year. In summary, Friedrichsfehn is a lively place on the city limits of Oldenburg, whose identity is strongly influenced by the surrounding Wildenloh forest and its history as a former moor colony.

Mehr über Deutschland

Germany? Before the beginning there was Ginnungagap, an empty space of nothingness, filled with pure creative power. (Sort of like the inside of my head.)And it ends with Ragnarok, the twilight of the Gods. In between is much fighting, betrayal and romance. Just as a good Godly story should be.Heroes have their own graveyard called Valhalla. Unfortunately we cannot show you a panorama of it at this time, nor of the lovely Valkyries who are its escort service.Hail Odin, wandering God wielding wisdom and wand! Hail Freya, hail Tyr, hail Thor!Odin made the many lakes and the fish in them. In his traverses across the lands he caused there to be the Mulheim Bridge in Cologne, as did he make the Mercury fountain, Mercury being of his nature. But it is to the mighty Thor that the Hammering Man gives service.Between the time of the Nordic old ones and that of modern Frankfort there may have been a T.Rex or two on the scene. At least some mastodons for sure came through for lunch, then fell into tar pits to become fossils for us to find. And there we must leave you, O my most pure and holy children.Text by Steve Smith.
