Mogadouro, Convent of Sao Francisco, Aerial view, Portugal
Portugal

17th century church with Latin cross plan and three naves. It is assumed that the construction of the Church is after the construction of the convent, this from the 15th century. Its main altar and the respective paintings made by M. Lopes Matos, due to their importance, are also classified. Today, this convent is very distorted from its original design, since it underwent several reconstructions, due to two fires that destroyed it. The Church of S. Francisco, which was part of the aforementioned convent began to be rebuilt in 1618 and ended in 1689. According to tradition, it was a nobleman of the Távoras family (D. Luís Álvares de Távora) who ordered it to be erected.
