A 300' aerial view overlooking Goosenest (elev. 8,280') east of Big Springs, California. The mountain is a broad shield volcano w/ a pyroclastic cone at the top w/ the last eruption during the Pleistocene era. Here one can see the shallow crater giving the peak its name. From here one can get views of Mount Shasta & Mount Eddy to the south, the Shasta Valley & distant Klamath Mountains to the west, & Willow Creek Mountain to the north.
