Grizzly Glacier

Viewing the tiny Grizzly Glacier tucked below Thompson Peak in the Trinity Alps Wilderness north of Weaverville, California.  The pocket glacier is the last remaining glacier in the Trinities after the Salmon Glacier below Caesar Peak disappeared in 2015.  This view is from atop an erratic w/ noticeable glacial striations on the smoothed bedrock visible nearby.  Lots of pebbles & gravel on the bedrock are indications that there ice was covering this spot not too long ago, lacking time for erosion to take place.  Glaciation is heavily pronounced in the Trinity Alps from the Ice Age, the Grizzly Glacier itself extended nearly 1/4 mile down the slope facing towards distant Grizzly Lake w/ pronounced lateral moraines.
