Papôa Volcanic Breccia
Portugal

The Papôa Volcanic Breccia is a type of rock present in Papôa in which whitish calcareous layers from the Lower Jurassic can be observed. Soon after, other orange or gray-green rocks, of volcanic nature, appear. These contain abundant chunks of other rocks. This shows that a volcano existed here, being an aggregate of volcanic material resulting from the deposition of material expelled by a volcano. The Papôa Volcanic Breccia is located on the peninsula of Peniche and is a unique vestige in the region.
