Established in 1998 by the Perlis State Forestry Department and opened to the public in 1999, Rimba Herba Perlis was created to serve as a genetic reservoir and an ethnobotany museum. Its primary mission is to preserve and introduce traditional medicinal plants to the public, documenting the deep-rooted knowledge of local herbal treatments.
The forest houses iconic Malaysian herbs such as Tongkat Ali, Kacip Fatimah, and Misai Kucing, alongside exotic species brought from other regions. In recent years, it has expanded its attractions to include a "Forest After Dark" experience and traditional herbal foot soaks, transforming the site from a strictly scientific research area into a popular destination for eco-wellness and educational tourism.
