Salado Battle memorial
Portugal
The Salado Memorial is one of the most emblematic monuments of Guimarães and one of the most symbolic works of medieval Portugal. Its construction dates back to 1340, year of the Battle of Salado, which took part D. Afonso IV, together with armies of Castile and of Aragon, against Muslim troops of the kingdom of Granada and North Africa. Stylistically, it is a work related to the Gothic of the first half of the fourteenth century
