Sanctuary of the Verna
The Franciscan Sanctuary of the Verna, situated to few kilometers from Closed of the Verna (province of Arezzo), inside the National Park of the Forests Casentinesi, Mountain Falterona and Campigna, are famous to be the place in which St. Francis of Assisi received the stigmates on September 17 1224. Built in the southern part of the Pen mountain to 1128 meters high, the Sanctuary. destination of numerous pilgrims. it entertains numerous chapels and places of prayer and concentration besides different points of notable religious importance.
