具有四十五年歷史的日月潭教師會館，因民國八十八年的九二一大地震，短短數秒鐘震垮正館大樓、白如樓和尚志樓受損，因而不得不暫停為全國教職員提供服務。

臺灣公立中小學教職員福利委員會全體委員，為免讓教職員們期待過久，毅然決定先行整修白如樓和集會堂，終能於九十年元月十六日恢復部分營業，也為地震後一片蕭條的日月潭帶來一些生機
。
