Viana do Castelo, Capela das Almas, Nave
Portugal

The Capela das Almas, was the first Mother Church of Viana do Castelo (Church of S. Salvador das Almas) until 1433 before the city of Viana do Lima was walled with the consequent construction of the Cathedral in 1483. It was a Roman chapel until 1719, when it underwent a remodeling and enlargement, which gave it the baroque style that it currently has. Its churchyard served as a cemetery until 1840. Currently recovered, its interior has an archaeological exhibition, and on the nave we see the original necropolis. Its churchyard served as a cemetery until 1840. Currently recovered, its interior has an archaeological exhibition, and in ship we see the original necropolis.
