Viana do Castelo, Cathedral, Capela da Nossa Senhora da Consolacao
Portugal

A representative example of Manueline art in the Lima Valley. It opens in two twin arches with a strung shaft, the interior of the chapel covered by an eight-ribbed vault radiating from a medallion. On the west wall, there is the sarcophagus of the founders of "Morgado da Carreira" (Pedro Pinto O Velho and his wife Brites Fernandez de Carvalho). The main altarpiece, Renaissance-Mannerist style, from the middle of the century. XVI of some workshop in Antwerp (Flanders).
