The Snowdon Mountain Railway (SMR) is a narrow-gauge railway that runs from Llanberis, in North Wales, to the summit of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. It's a popular attraction for tourists who want to experience the stunning views of Snowdonia National Park without the strenuous climb. The railway operates using a unique cog railway system, allowing trains to ascend steep gradients. Here Ninian descend the track near Llechog. Named after Saint Ninian, an early Christian missionary and saint who is believed to have travelled through the area, this steam engine was built in 1895 by Hunslet Engine Company specifically designed for the challenging gradients of the Snowdon Mountain Railway.
