Cahaya Bulan Beach Kota Bharu
Malaysia
Pantai Cahaya Bulan has a fascinating history reflected in its changing names. Originally, it was known as Pantai Cinta Berahi (Beach of Passionate Love), a name reportedly given by a British soldier who fell in love with a local woman during World War II. In the 1990s, the Kelantan state government officially renamed it Pantai Cahaya Bulan (Moonlight Beach) to give it a more poetic and culturally appropriate resonance. Beyond its beauty, this coastline holds great historical weight; it is situated very close to Pantai Sabak, the site where Japanese forces first landed in Malaya on December 8, 1941, marking the start of the Pacific War in Southeast Asia. Today, the beach is most famous for its vibrant food scene, specifically for its celup tepung (deep-fried seafood) and local snacks.
