Campbell Falls, Tiller, OR, USA

Campbell Falls is located along the South Umpqua River east of Tiller, Oregon.  It is a small waterfall that drops about 10 feet into a narrow chute.  The falls is named after Robert Campbell, an assistant ranger to this region who was killed during WWII, a nearby metal plaque dedicated in 1949 reads:

 

First Lt. Robert Greelee Campbell

March 23, 1919 - November 2, 1944

Army Air Corps Pilot

Killed in action during a mission over Germany on November 2, 1944.  He displayed outstanding heroism by staying at the controls of his crippled bomber allowing his entire crew to escape.

These falls are named in his memory by the United States Forest Service.
