Castle ruin Aggstein - Frauenturm
Wachau

Like so many other parts of this castle, the so-called Frauenturm (Woman's Tower) bears a fantasy name invented by Edaurd Reitmeyer.

It was a simple, fortified residential building. Despite later alterations, numerous exit oriels, window niches and wall chimneys as well as the abutments for the mighty roof beams are visible. The front part had a cosy, well heated wooden plank room on the 1st floor. The north wall of this building also contains fragments of the original 12th century castle walls.

More About Wachau

Quelle: http://www.wachau-dunkelsteinerwald.at/wachau.html
