Grande Anse Macabou
Caribbean
Grande Anse Macabou — A Wild Gem of Martinique Located on the Atlantic coast in the commune of Le Vauclin, Grande Anse Macabou stands as one of Martinique's most authentic and preserved beaches. Far from the bustling tourist areas, it offers a complete immersion into raw and spectacular nature. This wild and pristine beach, characterized by its fine, golden sand, stretches for over a kilometer. It is bordered by an immense coconut plantation and a national forest, with mangroves, ponds, and dry forests also found nearby. Access to Grande Anse Macabou is typically via the N6 road, followed by a track, or through the coastal path known as the Trace des Caps, which also connects Petit Macabou to Cap Macré (a hike of approximately 5 km, taking 2 to 2.5 hours). Visitors can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, and nature observation. While swimming is possible, caution is advised due to the waves and trade winds. The serene atmosphere, away from human agitation, provides a unique opportunity to fully appreciate the solitude and natural beauty of this remarkable Martinican landscape.
