Mission San Antonio de Pala Asistencia campanile
California

Mission San Antonio de Pala Asistencia was founded by Father Antonio Peyri on June 13, 1816 in what is now Pala, California.  It is a sub-mission (asistencia) to Mission San Luis Rey de Francia about 20 miles away.  Today the mission contains a replica bell tower amidst the native Indian cemetery while the bell itself has been used since 1916.  Most of the original features of this mission have long been gone due to a combination of earthquakes & flooding.  Now 200 years later at the tail end of 2016 I stopped here to take this panorama.
