校倉造りの倉庫は正倉院がとくに有名なのだが、正倉院以外にも幾つかの校倉造り倉庫が現存している。唐招待寺にも宝蔵と経蔵いう二つの校倉造り倉庫が残されている。写真ほぼ正面に写っているのが宝蔵、宝蔵の南側の木々に隠れながら写っているのが経蔵、宝蔵は唐招待寺創建時に建てられたものと言われるが、経蔵は創建以前の新田部親王邸時代に建てられたものと言われる。

校倉造りはログハウスとほぼ同じ構造と言ってよい。ただ、この時代の校倉は部材を三角形に整形しているため、倉庫内に入るとその内側は板倉のような平面となっている。以前倉庫内が公開されたことがあったのだが、その時に入ってみて初めて気づき驚いたことがあった。しかし、冷静に考えてみれば極めて当たり前のことである。

また、校倉造りの倉庫は部材が湿度によって伸び縮して内部の湿度を調整するために収蔵品を良好に保存する、という説が一般に言われている。しかし、実際には屋根の重み等でそのような伸び縮の余地はないという。その為この俗説は現在では否定されている。

なお、宝蔵・経蔵の西側向かいに長く伸びているる建物は礼堂(国重要文化財)、元は僧堂であったものを舎利殿の礼拝所として用途変更し改造したものである。
