静岡市とカンヌ市は姉妹都市となっている。そのことを記念して毎年５月、カンヌ映画祭と同じ時期に「シズオカ×カンヌウィーク」というイベントが行われる。今年で８回目となった「シズオカ×カンヌウィーク」は、３つの会場でマルシェ、アートイベント、無料の映画上映会などが行われ、多くの市民が訪れる静岡の代表的なイベントである。
写真は静岡市役所水道局ビル前で行われた｢アトサキマルシェ」の様子。この付近はもともと七間町映画街の映画館が道を挟んで東西に建ち並んでいた場所で、このビルのある場所は「オリオン座・有楽座」という映画館があったところである。映画館が亡くなった後はこの場所を静岡市が取得し、水道局の庁舎とした。このビルには水道局のほかに静岡市文化・クリエイティブ産業振興センターと鈴木学園中央調理製菓専門学校他が入居している。
「アトサキマルシェ」の「アトサキ」は映画館が無くなり水道局ビルが着工される前の更地だった時に、短期間であってもその更地を街の賑わいの為に役立てるという企画のもと、「映画館の”アト”」「その”サキ”」という意味でつけられた名称が現在に続いているようだ。「シズオカ×カンヌウィーク」のホームページには、”かつて、映画館街であったこの一帯の地域を、地元住民が主体となり「歴史」「文化」「下町力」で盛り上げようとするアトサキセブン周辺エリア発展会。”と書かれている。今回の「アトサキマルシェ」も「映画館という人々の集まる場所」はなくなっても、何らかの方法でこの場所が「人々の集まる場所」でありたいという願いのもとに行われたものと思う。
