荔枝湾简介

【荔枝湾】又叫【荔枝湾涌】 荔枝湾涌严格来说不是一条孤立的河流,而是原广州城西,现今的荔湾路、中山八路、黄沙大道(北段)、多宝路(西段)、龙津西路一带的江畔湿地中纵横交错的水系的总称。
荔枝湾历史
历史上的荔枝湾涌故道北至洗马涌,和象岗西面的芝兰湖(现广州市流花湖公园)相通,南至黄沙注入珠江,“广四十里,柔五十里”,是广州市历史袤久的风景名胜,素有“小秦淮”之称。
  荔枝湾的兴起与繁盛:相传公元前206年,汉高祖刘邦派遣陆贾来广州向赵佗劝降,当时陆贾在今天的西村为驻地,且开始经营这一名胜。其后经过千百年来人工与天工的巧妙结合,成为广州著名的消夏游乐地。在唐代,那里建有著名的园林名胜“荔园”,南汉时,又建有皇家园林“昌华苑”,每当荔熟之时,皇帝与妃子及臣子在那里赏荔游乐,称“红方宴”。明代这里被列为羊城八景之一“荔湾渔唱”。清嘉道年间,岭南一代名园“海山仙馆”,宛如人间仙境镶嵌其间,“夏日,泊画船绿荫下,枝叶荫覆,渺不知人间有盫蒸气。”每当“荔枝红熟,绿树丛中,如缀如缯,游人乘画舫泛舟溪中,歌吹相鉴。”这一情景一直延续到解放初。虽然她后来由于人为与自然的种种因素,发生了许多变化,但荔枝湾在历史的风雨中跋涉了千百年却依然存在,在荔湾湖公园内保留着一段长约400米的故道。两岸古树嵯峨,浓荫掩映,一派岭南独特的自然风光和历史风情,弥足珍贵。
  荔枝湾的衰败:到了二十世纪四十年代,随着广州城区的扩展,城市人口逐渐增加,荔枝湾河溪两面成为菜农、贫民聚居之地,居民为建房屋砍掉了荔枝树,再加上四十年代末期荔枝湾附近成为了广州市近代
工业的基地,造成了河涌污染,水质持续恶化,再也难以适应荔枝树的生长。
  荔枝湾的消亡:1958年。建立了荔湾湖公园,保留了部分湖泊和水道,河道仍能被通逢源桥,南至多宝桥,但水系的各条支流被填平变成街道;随着周围的工厂建立和人口聚居,荔枝湾水系已经沦为大污水池,1985年前后,荔湾湖至多宝桥的水道被覆盖;1992年,随着泮溪酒家至逢源桥的最后一段水道被覆盖,荔湾涌的名称彻底成为历史。
  新生:1999年,荔湾区政协提出了关于“复建荔枝湾故道”的提案,并在2009年正式实施,1992年填埋的最后一段河道重见天日。2010年10月16日凌晨,荔湾湖的湖水被引入河涌,曾经的荔枝湾涌迎来新生。

文塔
  文塔又称文笔塔、文昌塔,坐南朝北,高13.6米,底座为石脚,塔身为大青砖所砌,属明代中期至清代建筑,其整体风格与广州琶洲古塔和香港新界屏山聚星楼相似。文塔旁边有一棵参天细叶榕古树,树龄157年。

共有5座桥:龙津桥、德兴桥、大观桥、至善桥、永宁桥,其中龙津桥为三拱桥,中间过水,两边行人,长57米。龙津桥与文塔相呼应,“一桥一塔”符合中国传统习惯,为荔枝湾重要景观。

 Situated in the west of Guangzhou city, Liwan is one of the city’s key districts with Lingnan characteristics. With the geographic advantages of Guangzhou-Foshan interface, it is always famous for its prosperous business center Xiguan, beautiful scenery Lichee Bay, clear water and fragrant flowers. Therefore, people say that visitors will not have a real taste of Guangzhou if they don’t come to Liwan. Liwan District covers an area of 59.1 square kilometers. It has a resident population of 1,030,000. There are 22 administrative streets with 193 communities in this district.
   With a history of over 2000 years, Liwan has always been a fascinating place with beautiful sceneries and historic relics. It’s the window and epitome of Guangzhou’s “4 Place”:
1. The starting place of the Marine Silk Route. The well known 13 Hongs was the only foreign trading port in Qing Dynasty. It was the starting point of the Marine Silk Route. More than 1700 years ago, the Honorific Buddhist monk Damo came along the Marine Silk Route and landed in the place in this district named Xilanchudi to preach in Zen Buddhism.
 2. The Center Place of Lingnan Cullture. Typical representatives of construction culture in Liwan District include Chen Clan's Academy, Xiguan Residence, Arcade-houses, and Flagstone Street. The Hualin Temple is the typical representative of Zen Buddhism culture. Typical representatives of cooking culture include Guangzhou Restaurant, Lianxianglou Restaurant, Taotaoju Restaurant and Banxi Restaurant. It is said that “Best food in Guangzhou, Best Taste in Liwan and Both Rooted in Bantang”. Bahe Complex is the typical representative of Cantonese Opera. It’s China’s hometown of folk art.
3. The Source Place of modern revolution in China. Located on the bank of the Pearl River, the Taying Tower was the historical former address where Dr. Sun Yat-sen planned the 1911 Revolution. It witnessed Guangzhou’s great changes for 100 years.
4. The front place of China’s reform and opening-up. The first self-employed worker of Guangzhou appeared here. The first Chinese-foreign cooperation 5-star hotel of China, the White Swan Hotel located in this district. Nowadays private economy has become the important pillar of the district’s economic development. Liwan District has won the national titles of “Advanced District of Scientific & Technological Progress” and “Popular Science Demonstration Area”.
   Over the past 30 years of China’s reform and opening-up, Liwan District, which has caught the opportunities of the strategic adjustment and deepening of development of Guangzhou, has been working hard to build “2 Business Centers”: Bai-E-Tan and 13 Hongs; to build “3 industry zones”: Longxi Logistics zone, Dongsha Economic zone and Chuangyi Industry zone; to build “4 Hi-Tech Industry Gardens”: Returned Students Science & Technology Garden, Guangzhou Numerical Control Equipment Hi-Tech Industry Garden, Guangzhou Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Innovation Science & Technology Garden, Kengkou Electronic Number Base; to build “5 Industry Areas”: Jinsha, Hainan, Wuyanqiao, Datansha and Haibei; to build “8 cultural tourism areas”: Xiguan Residence, Chen Clan's Academy, Shamian Scenic Spot, 13 Hongs, Hualin Zen Buddhism, Flower Exposition, Huangdaxian Temple, and Huadi Recreation; to build “10 kinds of markets”: medicine & medical equipments, aquatic products, antique crystal & jade articles, clothes & shoes, culture masterpieces, furniture & building materials, communication electron, tea, car, flowers & aquarium fish. Liwan District is aiming to develop the economic society healthily and rapidly, making it a powerful, attractive and harmonious district.
