The Jiadong Stream Mangrove Reservation Area is a natural classroom for science and ecology as it is home to diverse insects and plant species. A large number of kandelia, mudskippers, fiddler crabs and other mangrove habitants can easily be spotted. Various species of birds can also be seen from time to time. Growing along the wooden trail that detours are Avicennia marina and Rhizophora mucronata, which are different species of mangrove. Currently, the reservation area is managed by Keliao Junior High School.
