The town of Killarney (Cill Airne) is located on the north eastern shore of Lough Leane. From here you can make many most beautiful trips to the Killarney National Park. Muckross House is a mansion that was built in 1843 in Tudor style on Muckross peninsula just between Muckross Lake and Lough Learn – 6 km out of Killarney. It was presented to the Irish nation in 1932. This date marks the beginning of Killarney National Park. Visiting the house and the garden is a must when staying in Killarney.
