The Sonepur Mela of Bihar is organized every year in the Hindu month of Kartik (November). The mela (fair) is held on the embankment of The River Ganga and Gandak at Sonepur.
This mela is billed as one of the worlds largest cattle fairs. This may be true for the crowds of people it attracts, but there really is not that many animals.
Here are some of the Buffalos and cattle that are for sale.
