The Atacama desert is the driest desert in the world with about 15mm percipitation per year. Just about an hour before I took the picture a thunderstorm with lightning, thunder and rain swept over the bizarre landscape of the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), located a few kilometers from the town San Pedro de Atacama, Nothern Chile.
