In the foreground, at a depth of about 10 meters, stands an impressive brain coral (Diploria labyrinthiformis) with its characteristic grooves and ridges resembling the folds of a human brain. Its surface, glowing with vibrant golden-brown and cream tones, reflects the colony’s excellent health. Between its curves, the Caribbean’s blue light filters through, revealing small fish seeking shelter. This coral, a keystone of the reef, filters nutrients, provides habitat, and protects the coastline — a silent witness to the underwater wealth of the region.
