大屯自然公園以一個天然湖泊為中心而闢建，因水氣豐沛、濕度較高，所以水生植物生長繁密，一片綠意盎然。目前園區內有步道方便遊客就近觀察各種植物與昆蟲，還有跨越湖面的木造步道，漫步其上，便可瀏覽在湖中優游的錦鯉、野鳥、水鴨等，周圍的草坪則供民眾休息、活動場所。
