龍頭山遊憩區位於茂林區高132 線12km處。三面高山環繞佔地約22公頃，屬珍貴的環流丘地形，可見曲折蜿蜒的溪流。遊憩區中設有木棧道及平台，另有石砌步道通往「望夫崖」。從崖頂的涼亭可遠眺群山環繞的重要聯外橋樑『多納高吊橋』，景象極為壯觀。

此地河水清澈，怪石、絕壁聳立形成龍脊般的山脊，塑造出有如臥龍一般的地景，又名「龍吐珠」。
