A 300' aerial view overlooking Howden, England from The Ashes Playing Field. The towns' earliest history dates back to 959AD from King Edgar giving his wife Ethelfleda the Howden Manor. In 1080, William the Conqueror give the town & its church to the Bishop of Durham. Today the town has a population of 4,142 citizens as of 2011.
