原高雄縣議會位處鳳山區，為仿巴洛克式圓柱的建築設計，於82年10月完工。大高雄合併後遷到現址。

市議會整修以建築空間反映人文，以及空間使用者的需求為主。在細節上，採高雄市合併後的38個行政區為引，在環形天花上以刻度具名設置，將漢字藝術納入設計。經整修後，原本的巴洛克式建築更加莊嚴亮眼，儼然成為鳳山的新地標。
