由美國西格瑪奧瑞奇集團（Sigma-Aldrich）投資數億元，在高雄園區創立台灣賽孚思科技公司，並於今(2012)年3月15日落成，將在南台灣開啟第一條LED及半導體產業生產線，服務範圍涵蓋整個亞洲市場，高雄歡迎各國際大廠加入南部科學園區高雄園區，讓低碳綠能產業能在南台灣成立並落地生根，促進高雄成為產業聚落大本營，有助結合南科半導體、光電產業聚落效應。市府及在地產業界均積極調整產業結構，以發展自主經濟，朝向高科技、高附加價值、低污染轉型的產業發展方向邁進。
