此地曾為中法戰爭滬尾之役的古戰場，日治後，日人於1939年完工神社，光復後改為臺北縣忠烈祠，1968年重建今之宮殿形外貌。此處綠草如茵，古木參天，沿途松柏蒼翠，身入其中，若有閒雲野鶴之感。
