馬偕博士將一生精華的歲月，奉獻給離他故鄉兩萬多公里外的小河港—淡水。馬偕博士在這塊土地的所做的貢獻，不論是醫療、教育、傳道等，一直為我們所紀念。這個銅像很傳神地雕刻出馬偕博士那一把長長的鬍子，如今這個銅像也為遊覽淡水的遊客，增加了駐足觀賞的景點。
