Castle Of Good Hope, Cape Town, South Africa - Suthern Gun Position
Greater Cape Town

The Castle of Good Hope was built by the Dutch East Indies Company between 1666 - 1679.  The fort is one of the best preserved examples of a Dutch East Indies Company fort and was restored and declared a historical monument in the 1980.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_of_Good_Hope)

This is the southern most point of the star with the guns mounted on the wall pointed out over Cape Town.  The star formation of the fort means that there is no area of the outer wall that can not be coverd by gun fire from another position on the fort which makes it easier to defend against enimies trying to climb the walls.
