During my studies as a biologist I have spent quite a few hours in the darkroom. In 2002 I dicovered panorama photography. My focus is on landscapes and architecture - not completely surprising for panorama photography, I suspect.

I love making photos and I saw Jeff's 18GPix panorama from Žižkov TV tower in Prague.  I've decided to join 360 cities when I discovered how to make 360 panorama. It was in summer 2011. My first panoramas were not so good- bad stitching in ground and so on. But I discovered some tricks and it is great. But only limitation is my camera. I have got 6 years old Panasonic DMC FZ-7 with 36mm lens and I must take at least 80-100 photos to make 360° panorama. But this thing doesn't discourage me- I'm trying to improve myself.

Seit 2005 erstelle ich fotorealistische Landschaften, sogenannte Szenerien, die in verschiedenen Modellflug-Simulatoren als Hintergrund eingesetzt werden. Dabei verschmilzt eine möglichst perfekte Landschafts- und Raumdarstellung mit der darunter liegenden 3-D-Konstruktion der Umgebung zu einer neuen virtuellen Realität, in der ein Modellflug-Pilot seine Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten verbessern kann. Für ein Panorama werden dazu bis zu 72 hoch aufgelöste  Digitalfotos verwendet. Für Stadtansichten und Web-Anwendungen setze ich auch ein 8mm Fisheye ein, mit dem einige der hier gezeigten Panoramen entstanden sind.

Seit kurzem kann ich die 1-Klick-Panorama-Aufnahme der Panono-Wurfkamera nutzen.

Well I'am living in The Netherlands and for some years busy with photography, and have been always interested in making panorama photo's. Most of the times these photos where images of 4-5 photo's stitched together. From here on I tried to make 360 pano's an noticed that it was very difficult to make these without a tripod. So I started making these photo's on the tripod but that still was not good enough. So I started to look what was needed to make perfect 360 panorama photo's. And on the internet I saw some Pano Heads, which I made myself from metal. And see here the result.

So I think it's a great way to freese an location with this photo techniek and than share it with the world.

I'm an amateur photographer, shooting digital photos since 2003. Now shooting with a varity of lenses from 8 to 400 mm on an APS-C format cam and a Panosaurus panorama head mounted on a Bilora carbon tripod. My panoramas usally consit of four photos shot with the fisheye lens or up to 30 equirectlinear with up to 20 mm focal length for a better quality.

I'm a hobby photographer who heard his jaw drop to the floor when he saw his first interactive panorama (Jay Leno's studio). I've been shooting panoramas myself since 2001. In 2006 and 2007 I contributed to the board of the PanoTools and PanoToolsNG mailinglists, but since life has more than one priority, I had to step back. Nowadays I predominantly shoot panoramas during holidays and publish them on my web site.

I am a native German and have lived nearly 30 years in Asia, mostly in Indonesia. In the 80’s I worked as a producer, rostrum camera operator and photographer for a well known Indonesian MultiMedia company! I created innovative, unseen large screen multi-image presentations of up to 15 projectors for clients like Unilever, Honda, Pertamina, Modern Group and Indonesian Government Departments. Later, as a freelance photographer, I worked for Jakarta’s international agencies in the field of corporate, advertising and hotel photography. Reportage assignments for magazines like "Geo France", "Der Spiegel", "Die Zeit", APA Travel Guide rounded up the fascinating job as a photographer.
1997, I started to experiment with Panorama Photography and developed the "roundshot360" photography combined with virtual tours in an outstanding quality for full frame, Internet and print media. Prints of Panorama shots for exhibitions or posters can be enlarged up to 5m. Beside this love for roundshot360 images, I never stopped to work as a "conventional" photographer!

It all started in the summer of 1998, I discovered a few rotating images on a Japanese engineering demonstration disc. With a simple flick of the 'wand', you get to explore the whole construction site. I was absolutely fascinated by the magic of virtual reality and I had an epiphany that this is exactly what I want to do from that moment on--I want to travel all around China to capture her beauty, and let the world admire her culture, from an unbiased, comprehensive perspective.

This motivated me to establish the ChinaVR website with my partners and set up a panoramic archive for all Chinese World Heritages and tour resorts. Therefore, I was regarded as China's first VR panoramic photographer. I dedicated myself to the development and application of Panoramic photography and computer processing technique, among them, Floating panorama and Motion panorama are well received by my peers. Thanks to the support of IVRPA and WWP, ChinaVR became the top Panoramic website in China and gained reputation worldwide.

Been invited to the UN's "2006 World Heritage Web Conference" to give a speech titled "The application of vr panoramic photography in the reservation of World Heritage" at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Since hundreds of thousands of Chinese people were drawn to panorama, I established a pano forum for the fans and offer them a platform to exhibit their works and share their excitement. I always encourage these friends to participate in WWP events despite the language barrier. My next step is to setup a panoramic gallery, organise a Chinese panoramic association and publish a professional magazine in China, to help Chinese pano fans to communicate with international peers.

For my personal plan, I am preparing to build some "pano-rooms", in which huge gigapixel panoramic photographs were printed on Advanced Semi-gloss Photo Paper and mounted on 4 walls, sometimes with "ceiling" and "floor". Each wall measured at least 3.5 x 3.5 meters, people stand in the center of the "room", to feel the atmosphere of reality and to watch the very fine details of the panorama even with a magnifier.

Als engagierter Amateur wollte ich wissen, was man(n) mit einer Digitalen Kamera alles anstellen kann. Dabei bin ich unter anderem auf die Panoramafotografie gestoßen.

Dieses Gebiet hat mich so fasziniert, daß ich bei jeder sich bietenden Gelegenheit versuche, ein Panorama zu fotografieren. Nicht immer gelingt es, aber in den letzten Jahren sind einige Panoramen entstanden, für die ich eine geeignete Möglichkeit gesucht habe, diese zu präsentieren.

Mangels einer eigenen Webseite werde ich hier auf www.360cities.net meine besten Panoramas veröffentlichen.

Robert first saw spherical panoramas (or photo bubbles as they were called then in 1999) and wondered how they were created. After looking into the subject and finding Prof. Helmute Derschs early versions on Panotool he decided to give it a go.

His first spherical panorama was taken on 35mm film using a standard tripod head. The photos were processed, scanned and then stitched (there were no GUI frontend's it was text files). The alignment of the photos wasn't perfect, but it proved it could be done.

Over the years he has continually improved his camera setup and post processing process. On the camera side he went from a Nikon Coolpix 990 and FC-E8 fisheye lens through to currently a Nikon D300 and 10.5mm fisheye lens. While post processing he now used Adobe Lightroom 3 and PTGui.

He now takes his panoramic camera setup wherever he goes and enjoys shooting everything from local views to holiday destinations. He also has contributed to the World Wide Panorama project since the first event in March 2004.

I am an amateur photographer - and would like it to remain so. But hopefully a decent panorama photographer. My interest in photography dates back to the days of the american lunar missions. The moon landing in 1969 was the real reason for buying my first semi-professional camera, a Nikkormat, to the vast sum of 1300 danish kroner (appr. 220 $) at that time. Being in high school, a Hasselblad, similar to the one used on the lunar expeditions, was way outside my economic means (perhaps one day? some dreams probably should remain dreams).

Von Anfangs aneinander gereiten Bildern bis zum perfekten Kugelpanorama war für mich ein weiter Weg. Seit 2009 betreibe ich die Panorama Fotograpie nun ernsthafter.

Meine Kamara "Drehaparate" und später mein Nodalpunktadapter (Alu) habe ich auf meiner Heimischen Fräse selbst gefertigt.

Anfangs verwendete ich noch Kompaktkameras verschiedenster Hersteller, später rüstete ich auf Spiegelreflex (Nikon) um.

I am a lecturer at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. My hobby is photography and  360 degree panorama is the one that I am interested most.

I am interested in panorama photography since 2003. It offers a great way to quickly visit interesting places, even if they are far away.

Climbing, traveling, photography and science are the important activities in my life. These activities are connected with each other and they are helping me differently on my way of life. I do climbing since 1998. The first place it brought me where (after almost whole Europe) was Peru (2003). Afterwards I´ve visited Russia (Kaukaz), Canada, Madagascar and U.S. My first digital camera was OlySP500 (in 2006), now I´m using Nikon D200. Since the very first moments I was captured and fascinated by the world of panorama pictures. My aim is to capture and document places I´ve visited as realisticly as possible and here you can see some of my results.

I got obsessed with spherical panoramas when I first discovered them in 2001, intrigued by the ability to capture the entire spherical scene in a single image and to share and explore these immersive worlds. I followed developments in this field from the old QTVR panoramas to when panoramas started appearing in the more flexible Flash format, to when it went mainstream through various smartphone apps and 360 cameras.

In 2010, I made my first spherical panorama using the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my DSLR, a tripod, and a Nodal Ninja MKII panohead. Many of my panoramas have been made using this setup and HDR bracketting. 

I am a school teacher living in Alnwick, Northumberland.  I have just started experimenting with 360 panorama photographs.  I am at present practising hand held panoramas.

I started with panorama photography at the beginning of 2013. As an Industrial Designer I'm interested in the creative and the technical background of it.  It has always been disapointing for me when I shot a fantastic view with standard camera but I wasn't able to show the view as wide as my eyes did see it. Born and raised in the Ukraine, studied in Germany, I work as a freelance photo- and video journalist. My photographic work is focussing on portrait, journalistic, documentary photo- and videography and panorama photography.

I am a self taught amateur exploring 360 3D photography with a single camera. My basic setup includes one Sony a6000, a Rokinon 7.5mm shaved fisheye, a nodal ninja 3 and Manfrotto tripod. This rig allows for a minimum of 8 images (4 left, 4 right) which are stitched in ptgui and stacked top and bottom in Photoshop.

The basic challenge is time. It takes more than a minute to complete an 8 image stereo set with this rig. Even longer if attempting HDR. It is incredible how much will change in a scene in less than a minute. Tiny movements which go unnoticed in a 2D panorama will register in 3D as confusing depth cues which break the stereo illusion. 

Time and stitching are the underlying issues in single camera stereo panoramas.

I'm a software developer by trade, but I like to play around with GIMP (a Photoshop-clone) and, since I discovered Hugin (the panorama stitcher), I got my camera back from its case and started using it again :-)

Moreover, I can also apply my other hobby to panorama creation; for instance I made my own equirectangular editor when I didn't find anything that worked well enough.

I'm by no means a professional photographer, but my father used to earn some money that way when I was younger and I still have this nostalgic feeling about cameras and such.

Photographing has always been my pictoral diary as one never knows when something is going to change.  Many of my adventures have been of solo exploration & I hope for many more.

Hi, One day I discovered 360Cities in the Gallery layer of Google Earth.  What was this?  Wow, this is cool.  I wanted to learn how to make them myself and so began the exciting journey of learning all about shooting panoramas, stitching, and finding out how to get them on Google Earth.

Living at the eastern edge of the Great Basin in Utah I noticed that there were not many panoramas out west of I-15 in Utah all the way over to Reno Nevada. A few shots were in the mountains in Nevada by a fellow in Salt Lake City but other than that it was empty territory with all kinds of interesting places to take photos.  This was a good excuse to start exploring these areas to take panoramas that could be shared with everyone on Google Earth.

 Other areas of the world are well represented in 360Cities and as a way to show thanks to the other 360Cities photographers that have taken time to shoot their parts of the world, I decided that I would try to do my part by taking photos in the areas in the western United States that don't as of yet have any panoramic photos.

Panoramio photos (photos in the default layer in Google Earth) are interesting but don't give the feeling of being at that location like a well shot 360 panorama does.  I use Panoramio as a tool to locate interesting areas for 360 panorama shots.  A greater concentration of photos = an interesting area to be considered for a 360.

Its fun to study the maps and Google Earth, find some areas to shoot, learn the history about the area, take the photos, stitch and try to perfect the image, and then share the image on 360 Cities and Google Earth.

I got my first camera to my children's first communion. If I remember correctly, it was a simple roll film camera by Kodak with a 6 * 6 roll. Later, i am acquired the first SLR camera as a family camera. In the youth, we had been much experimenting with aperture, Exposure time and flash. Steps in the black and withe - laboratory were also present. But with the chemistry I did not have it in such a way.

Now, professional life began. In the past 25 years I've scurrying me in the IT - industry and left little time for photography.

When the first affordable and useful digital cameras came on the market, around the turn of the millennium, I jumped on. I was fascinated by the opportunity to get my photographed pictures going directly into the computer. My first digital was the compact camera Canon G2. Also this camera had in 2002 a panorama function, which has received the panoramic virus in me.

My name is Brian Conroy. I live in Tigard, a suburb of Portland Oregon.

When I was a teenager I used to splice my photos together and make ultrawide panoramas. Once I discovered 360 panoramas in 2006 I was so excited I spent $2,000 on all the equipment I needed on line the next day and I never looked back. I love taking these photos. They do so much more to capture the spirit and time of place. I am very lucky to have been raised in one of the most beautiful states in the country. My dad  grew up in very rural central Oregon. Fortunately he took me out there to fish whenever he could. I hope you enjoy these Panoramas as much as I do. I wish I could add sound to them to really put you there. I struggled with different lenses, cameras rotators and software for a while before finding a few people in the 360 Cities that have helped me find a new level of skill. I'm a 2D and 3D graphic designer freelancer from Italy. I stepped into panoramic photography on 2005. My first equipment was a Kaidan QuickPan IV rotator with a Standard Bracket for cylindrical shots. Later on I switched to  Manfrotto 303SPH rotator for spherical panorama. Manfrotto 303SPH solution is very precise but too much heavy for travelling, so I decided to get a Fanotec NN3 in 2007, much better lighter and esier solution to carry on!

In the past I used a Nikon D-70 or a Nikon D-300, most of the times with the lightweight Fanotec NN3, a couple of lenses: Tamron 10/24 and a Nikkor 18/70 and a Manfrotto Digi 725B as tripod. Recently I got one Panasonic GH2 - 16Mpx (micro 4/3) with a 14-140 mm zoom.

I take panos expecially for sampling landscapes for HDR/IBL application in 3D sofwares or simply to have background plates for 3d architectural rendering.
In the last 10 years I've been in India, Sardinia (Italy), Cornwall (UK), Danmark, Norway, Mongolia, Indonesia, Madagascar and Japan.

I have been into photography since a young age, and have been taking panoramas since the age of 12. Recently, I have started to take spherical panoramas, beginning with an app on my phone (Google camera), and now with DSLR-based spherical panorama photography.

I find spherical panoramas much more flexible and interesting than regular panoramas, because you can capture everything around you, instead of a certain section.

I'm retired now and have some "inconveniences" with my health, so fast and flashy photographing is a little bit difficult, but I discovered shooting 360x180° panoramas is my cup of tea and is something I can handle with lightweight and small photo gear when I go "hunting panoramas" with my mobility scooter in my region called "Het Gooi" en Vechtstreek. It's centrally located between Amsterdam, Utrecht and Amersfoort and avaried, green part of the Netherlands. You find heath, forests, lakes, rivers, polders, old towns and villages, modern architecture and it's known as the home for the rich and famous (unfortunately not me) Hope you appriciate my panos of this region.

Tech Info:

A typical panorama shoot for the Samyang (180° FOV) consists of 6 horizon level images in portrait mode (60° sectors give convenient overlap zones). Camera a little pointed to the ground (-10°~-12°) to make a small nadir footprint (easy to edit) and 1 or 2 Zenith images tilted up to +60° above the anchor image and optional the second one in opposite direction to generate a lot of control points for stitching. In case of situations with moving objects (pedestrians, cyclists, cars, some times clouds, etc) I shoot only 4 images on horizon level and 1 zenith. Shooting 90° sectors only with the click-stop rotator for precision due to very narrow overlap zones. My distance setting for the Samyang Fisheye is 3m and aperture mostly set to F8 and this results in a DOF (depth of field) of 30/40cm~infinity with (almost) max. sharpness. Smaller apertures (F11~F22) have more DOF but lesser general sharpness by diffraction = light scattering through a particularly small aperture.

I started with spherical panoramic photography in 2005 with my first experiments. First I began with partial pano's but later I made the full spherical view. Nach und nach entwickelten sich meine Fähigkeiten. Immer mehr begeisterte ich mich für Virtual-Reality-Fotos, denn ich finde, dies ist eine faszinierende Art, sich gleichsam auf der ganzen Welt umzuschauen. Irgendwann wollte ich dann auch einige Panoramas aus meiner eigenen Herstellung publizieren, und zwar auf 360cities und anderen sites. Es geht mir bei meinen Arbeiten nicht um Quantität, sondern um Qualität, denn ich habe nicht das Bedürfnis, in jeder Ecke meiner Region möglichst viele visuelle "Duftmarken" zu hinterlassen.

Ich betrachte mich als Wahrheitssucher und ich habe ein großes Mißtrauen gegenüber den Mainstream-Medien. Außerdem distanziere ich mich von allen Religionen, denn sie sind Gefängnisse für den Geist. Und somit werden da auch kaum Kirchen oder Klöster in meinen Panoramen auftauchen. Ich interessiere mich für Fotografie, Video, Journalismus, Sprachen (vor allem Niederländisch und Dänisch) und spirituelle Themen.

Met mijn eerste panorama experimenten was ik gestart in 2005. Beetje bij beetje ontwikkelde ik mijn vaardigheden. Eerst heb ik met gedeeltelijke pano's gewerkt, maar enkele jaren later ben ik dan op de volle 360 graad kijk overgegaan. Meer en meer wordt ik enthousiast van virtual reality foto's, want ik denk, dat dit een fascinerende manier is, om als het ware in de heele wereld rondom te kijken. Op een gegeven moment wilde ik ook een aantal panorama's van mijn eigen productie ter beschikking stellen, en dit op 360cities. Voor mij gaat het voor al om kwaliteit, niet om kwantiteit. Mogen andere mensen aan iedere hoek hun visueel plassertje achterlaten, voor mij hoeft dat niet.

Ik beschouw mezelf als waarheidszoeker en ik heb een groot wantrouwen in opzicht op de mainstream media. Ik hou ook niet van religies, want met hun domme dogmata zijn ze allemaal kooien voor de geest. Dus zal je ook haast nooit kerken of kloosters in mijn panoramas zien. Flere og flere entusiastisk blev jeg for virtual reality billederne, fordi jeg synes, at det er en fascinerende måde at kigge sig rundt omkring på verden. I discovered panoramic photography in the year 1997 and create first 360º panorama with my first digital camera Olympus. I was living in one of the world's most beautiful cities Prague (Czech Republic) and in 1998 I have created interactive CD-ROM Praga Virtualis (production of Barrandov Multimedia) with 500 panoramas and interactive map and multi language information.

I have travel around the world and settle in tropical Australia, Cairns in 2000. I am still active photographer and I enjoy panoramic and 360 photography.

I like making spherical panoramas.

Since Google Panoramio, and before Google Earth, I posted a lot of pic of beautiful place around my location where I live (Puglia region, Salento district, extreme South-East of Italy). I started to make pano from an app, with a smartphone, after with a 360 camera, and now I'm in DSLR with a very good resolution, and many satisfaction also in handheld mode.

At today I'm Google Street View PhotoGrapher, Level 7, local guide, with over 16Million views.

Born 1968 in New Zealand, by the time I was 6 I found that a steady supply of empty cigarette packets were a great place to draw, and I did to a large degree. Because these packets were small my sketching became quite detailed; which is the reason why for the rest of my life I was so obsessed with detail, often much to the annoyance of my friends. Now though not quite so much as age has brought, to a certain degree, the ability to compromise.

In 1977 we moved to Windsor England and I've lived in the area ever since.

In 1986 I can remember walking past a camera store and being fascinated by the cameras. It wasn't long before I had my first camera and yes you guessed it, an Olympus OM10. It wasn't too long before I had the mother of all systems; a Nikon F3 and all the accoutrements.

I acquired a passion for super field of view quite early on and was often taking multiple shots with just a 50mm and sticking them together to make photo montages or mosaics.

For a long time after I didn't touch a camera until about 2007, when I realised that with modern tech I could do everything and more that I always dreamed of doing back in the late eighties, early nineties.

The equipment I use is:

Canon 5D mkII with either EF 15mm or Sigma 8mm put on a Manfrotto 303SPH panorama tripod head then edited with a combination of Photoshop CS5, Autodesk Stitcher Unlimited 2010 and Pano2VR.

Ik heb zelf nog zwart-wit-foto's afgedrukt en bewerkt met doordrukken en tegenhouden en polarisatie enz. Ook toen maakte ik al panorama-opnames en deze papieren versies plakte ik aan elkaar

Mijn eerste digitale camera was een Minolta 2-miljoen-pixels-camera. Mijn eerste digitale spiegelreflex was de Nikon D-70. Later kocht ik daarbij de D-300.

Een lichte uitvoering van een goede digitalecamera met verwisselbare lenzen heb ik later aangeschaft, de Nikon J1.

Ik woon in Zwolle en fiets regelmatig rondom Zwolle en maak dan foto's.

From in New York City, Jook Leung is a professional 360 Panoramic Photographer intent on capturing wide-view images of people in urban landscapes around the world.  His work has been described as "visually rich narratives depicting the intricacies of the world's cultures with the full spectrum of human emotion." Through his work, viewers can experience not only what the world looks like from a single vantage point, but the entire visual spectrum that they would have if they were spinning around in a circle while standing on the same point in real time.

Spanning the last two decades, Jook's 360 panoramic photography reveals the more subtle interactions between subjects and their environment that might not be apparent in regular photos.  His work captures greater detail than standard photographs, offering viewers an understanding of the composition in deeper context.  Differing from videography, panoramic photographs can be viewed in their entirety in a single moment or presented digitally, allowing the viewer to explore its dimensions with a mouse or a touch screen.

Always looking for the his next shot and ready to see it before it happens, Jook is internationally recognized as an innovator in spherical panoramic photography.  In a rare achievement, he was awarded three consecutive Fuji Film Masterpiece Awards for photographic excellence in electronic imaging by the International Association of Panoramic Photographers (IAPP).  Additionally, his experience spans 34 years as an advertising and editorial photographer with a background in photo-illustration and digital imaging.  Commercially, his current work with immersive panoramas includes hospitality, tourism, events and museum projects.   

Jook has given presentations and workshops about his work at International Virtual Reality Photography Association (IVRPA) / VR Summits and at International Association of Panoramic Photographers (IAPP) Conventions.  He has written articles for Panorama Magazine. In January 2005, his panoramas were featured in an on-air interview on ABC's News Now program about his 360VR panoramas of Times Square on New Year's Eve.

Ich bin Jahrgang 1977 und Panograf aus Leidenschaft. Eigentlich bin ich gar kein Fotograf, zumindest kein gelernter. Ich arbeite hauptberuflich im Bereich Erneuerbare Energien und fotografiere in meiner Freizeit leidenschaftlich gern.

Meine ersten Berührungen mit der Fotografie hatte ich bereits im Jahr 1999 auf diversen Rockkonzerten. Damals habe ich einige Bands über viele Jahre begleitet und fotografiert. Über die Weitwinkelfotografie kam ich letztlich zur Panoramafotografie. Ich wollte viel, am besten alles aufs Bild bringen! Ab 2006 packte ich die Panorama Technik richtig an. Heute entstehen Gigapixel-Panoramen und Virtuelle Rundgänge, die mit HDR-Technik und Bildbearbeitung den letzten Schliff erhalten - alles aus Leidenschaft für das große Ganze.

Daher ist Eskimue-Panorama.de nach wie vor ein rein privat orientiertes Projekt.

Sarah Schindehette was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1991.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2013.  She currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland. My exhibition shows different groups of people, aged from teenagers to young adults, in their ‘natural’ social habitat. There is an obvious disconnect between persons of different groups, often age groups or racial groups, that often causes dual personas.  My interest is aimed toward becoming part of these groups and experiencing moments as an “insider.” The use of the 360-degree panorama creates a fully-immersive experience for the viewers and visually portrays the experience of being a temporary insider. The photographs all focus on different groups of subjects, ranging from teenagers to young adults, interacting with others within their social clique or simply alone.

Interest in photography apart had First seen a panorama on a google street view. Few months later was making them.
Delhi, The part of India i live have very few panoramas and that too of only Tourist Interest Places.
I am no wildlife or nature lover nor do i travel. Even my messenger nickname is dilliwala. I was wanting to put lots of Photos and Panoramas of Local Public Interest on a Map of Delhi. But since Google Street View was stopped by the Police of Bangalore and the related laws in india unclear on what can be shot from a "Public Place",  I try to stay clear of Government Buildings, Public Utilities like Metros, Militiary Areas which are anyway photography restricted. Privacy Issues of People faces appearing is not a concern yet.

I am left with clicking happening Colorful Markets and Bustling Local Streets. Hope i am not seen as trying to Promote any Business inadvertently appearing on such panoramas, but thats what you will find here.

When he was a little boy, Ken Aaron became fascinated by cameras—how they work, what they showed and what they didn’t. For years, photography had been his hobby—he learned of its storytelling value while thumbing through post-vacation family photos. But, over time, it became his passion—so much so that it inspired him to leave a successful and lucrative career in IT marketing and executive recruiting in the late-1990s, just to start all over again as a photographer’s assistant.

From there, he’d work his way up this career ladder one rung at a time, enrolling for classes at the Academy of Art to learn the technical education balanced with the practical experience learned working with other photographers. Since moving to Portland in 2003, Ken has been shooting for himself and for commercial clients (including Neighborhood Notes, which he founded in 2008) using a variety of techniques (high dynamic range, pinhole, macro photography, infrared, 360-degree panorama, and hand coloring) in both digital and film media.

Ken loves the to make photographs of places and spaces. These could be natural landscapes, urban environments, or man made structures.

I have worked in the field of computers and digital imaging for the past 33 years and been involved in the evolution and acceptance of computer imaging from both a hardware and software perspective since joining U.K. digital pioneer Quantel in 1984. 

During my time with Quantel, I was responsible for introducing digital technology to the arts and media industries in the U.S. from my base in Silicon Valley. I also travelled regularly to the U.K. to work with Qantel’s development team on the UI and functionality of what would become the industry standard of it’s time: the Quantel Paintbox.

In 1987, I left Quantel to start his own Hollywood based company, Electric Paint.  Employing this new digital technology I produced Key Art for major motion pictures including Edward Scissorhand, Terminator II, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Die Hard I & II, Silence of the Lambs, JFK & Born on the Fourth of July and album covers such as Michael Hutchence’s MaxQ, Nirvana’s Nevermind, Elvis Costello’s Spike, and The Beasty Boys’ St Paul’s Café. 

Returning to Australia in 1994, I established Red Square Productions, one of the country’s first Web Development Agencey. Red Square went on to develop long lasting business relationships with companies such Qantas, Telstra, YHA, Panasonic Australia, The Good Guys, Harvey World Travel, Maersk Line Shipping and the oneworld Alliance of Airlines. Red Square Productions was known for its innovative approach to web development, pioneering a number of technologies in Australia and popularising 360˚ immersive imagery, creating unique virtual tours of sporting locations such as Olympic Park, accommodation offerings by Australian Youth Hostels and promotional events for Panasonic Australia, Qantas and Telstra.

In 2008 I merged Red Square’s business with local agency Webqem, allowing me to pursue my interest in travel, 360˚ panorama photography, and all things digital. 

In 2012 I became involved with an Australian start-up company Mogeneration and its tablet publishing solution Oomph taking on the role of Creative Technologist.   

I was recognised in the Australian Mobile Awards for my work in developing the award winning apps for Sky-OneCentral Park (Frost Design/Fraser Properties), Experience the Highs ( New England (NSW) tourism) apps and his 360˚ panoramic photographic contribution to the MCA Anish Kapoor app.

In 2014 I returned to my home city of Adelaide to focus on new technologies and ways of providing 360˚ Panoramic Photography, 360˚ Video and 360˚ Web & App services.

Today I am working with a diverse group of clients to develop 360˚ virtual tour content. My clients include the French luxury cruising company Ponant (Worldwide locations), various divisions of the University of Tasmania (Web and Mobile VR apps), Pichi Richi Railway (Quorn), Stuartholme School (Brisbane)  and MadebyFairfax (Sydney).

The images you see here are the result of an interest in panoramic photography that goes back over 35 years. As a student in the School of Architecture at the University of Minnesota, one often began a project by going out to a hypothetical building site with a 35mm camera and taking a series of sequential snapshots. Then, back at the studio, with a little scotch tape and the exercise of an ability not exceeding that of laying dominoes end to end, a panorama would emerge.

After two decades of dealing with real buildings on real sights, vacations to exotic places, scotch tape, exacto blades, band aids and some unsatisfactory experiments with early stitching software, I began to look at the real thing. I began to research real panoramic cameras. In 1996 I took my first true panoramic photograph with the Hulcherama Panoramic Camera. This first effort was a bewildering 360° blur of trees and boulders near Devil's Den on The Gettysburg National Battlefield, but it was the start. Subsequently, I honed a tenuous professionalism with this subtle, high-strung camera which, when it was good, was very, very good indeed.

The panoramas displayed on this page were taken with either the Hulcher or more recently, as digital technology superseded analogue, the GigaPan system. Initially, I was going to be the new interpreter of the American Civil War, a sort of historical messiah laying open heretofore unknown truths about truly historic landscapes where the fate of a divided union was played out, if play is the word. I've taken dozens of panoramas of the Gettysburg and Antietam battlefields and many others. Over the years I have expanded my portfolio to several other subjects and landscapes of interest.

You may notice that these panoramas are all cylindrical projections. Not spherical. I made this choice early on. My final work is entirely a traditional two dimensional medium...the photographic print. Although the viewing of spherical panoramas is a fascinating and informative experience, the ability to see the entire 360 degree field of vision at once in a single, unrolled, flat photographic image allows compositional and graphic advantages unavailable from a purely rotational viewing system. Hi my name is Liana Hong, I enjoy photography and videography, I normally focus on aerial photography, using my drone to take photos, videos, and panoramas from up above. I first took interest in spherical panoramas back in 2009 when I discovered an early iPhone app (Photosynth by Microsoft) that could take and stitch 360 photos using my iphone4. Since then I've always had an interest in panoramas and have gotten gear like 360 cameras or drones with automatic panorama features.
