Diarna, “Our Homes” in Judeo-Arabic, is the flagship initiative of Digital Heritage Mapping, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit specializing in digitally preserving historic and cultural sites worldwide. The project pioneers the use of digital mapping technologies to explore the unfolding of Jewish history in the Middle East and North Africa through the prism of physical location by digitizing individual sites (schools, cemeteries, synagogues, shrines) and memories.
Anyone with an Internet connection can use Diarna to travel across the region as if on eagles' wings, unaffected by political and inter-religious strife below. Previously unknown or difficult to visit sites are now "visitble" via Diarna's weaving and synthesizing of satellite imagery, immersive panoramas, three-dimensional architectural models, archival and contemporary photography, scholarship, and oral history recordings.
Dirven by a team with diverse background and outlooks--including young Muslims eager to discover their shared history--Diarna has been: featured as a resource for scholars in the "Encyclopedia of Jews in the Islamic World" (Brill Publications, 2010); recognized as one of the 50 most innovative Jewish projects in North America by the Slingshot Fund (2009-2010); the subject of a panel at the Association of Jewish Studies' 42nd Conference; profiled in Haaretz (http://goo.gl/2N9VZ); and is partnered with Wellesley College, the Alliance Israélite Universelle, Beit Hatfutsot: The Museum of the Jewish People, and the Yad Ben-Zvi Institute.
The immersive panos published here are an advance preview of The Diarna Project's D'fina exhibit (http://www.JewishMorocco.org), dedicated to uncovering the "buried" or "covered" Jewish treasures of Morocco.
Spanning the entire country, from metropolitan centers to remote villages, D’fina proffers a virtual passport to visitors wishing to explore mountain-top shrines of Jewish “saints” that continue to be voluntarily protected by Muslim caretakers, scorpion-guarded genizot (burial grounds for holy texts and objects), anthropomorphic tombstones in seaside cemeteries, synagogues on the edge of the Sahara Desert, and ancient urban quarters with hidden reminders of their one-time residents. This exhibit marks the first public showing of documentation on the majority of these sites, including several Vichy regime desert labor and “discipline” camps where hundreds of Jews and non-Jewish political prisoners toiled, suffered torture, and died during the Holocaust.

A quick guide to the Wirral by Wirral360.com photographer.....Dave Hughes
The Wirral is a peninsula in North West of England bounded by the River Dee to the west and the River Mersey to the east. It is administered by Wirral Borough Council. If you have ever heard the famous song by Gerry Marsden "Ferry cross the Mersey" then i guess you could say we are cross the Mersey.
At the end of the twelfth century, Birchen Head Priory stood on a lonely headland of birch trees, facing open countryside and surrounded by the Mersey. It was from here, Merseyside's oldest building, that Benedictine monks operated the first Mersey ferry in 1330, having been granted a passage to Liverpool by a charter from Edward III.
The original ferry service, now famous throughout the world, put Wirral on the map as part of the King's highway, yet for centuries the peninsula remained a cluster of small holdings and hamlets. It wasn't until the 1820s that steam-powered boats improved communication and opened up Wirral's Mersey coast for industrialisation.
www.Wirral360.com aims to create many 360º virtual tours of the Wirral to show you the viewer how we live here on the Wirral.
One of my hobbies is aerial photography. I love the adrenaline of traveling, the rush of flying with my compact drone, and taking 360-degree photos from the air. Having the 'eagle eye' in my backpack always challenged me to look into the world from a different perspective.
There is always a place for improvement regarding the HDR, the stitching, the follow-up image processing, and the sharing with the world. Always learning, and always improving ...
You can check the views on my 360cities.net profile. Enjoy!
Don't follow me, follow your dreams. Own who you are!

Matthias Taugwalder: photographer, computer expert and mountaineer
Matthias Taugwalder grew up in Zermatt (Switzerland). After spending his childhood in the mountains, he studied Business Informatics at the University of Zürich. He is a direct descendant of the mountaineers Peter Taugwalder and Son, who experienced the drama of the first ascent of the Matterhorn with Edward Whymper on 14th July 1865. The family tradition is obligatory, it is a matter of honour for him to take his panoramic shots by climbing the ascents and doing without helicopter services.
Taugwalder is a passionate panoramic photographer. The focus of his photographic creativity is the Alps and the surrounding area. By capturing the structures, forms and aura of the mountain landscape as realistically as possible, he meets documentary standards. In addition, as a computer expert, he makes full use of the opportunities offered by electronics.
Alongside his freelance activities, Matthias Taugwalder runs his own company, Concept360. As the company’s owner, he offers a whole range of services in the field of photography and information services. Clients include companies, advertising agencies, museums and publishing houses.

AirPano is a not-for-profit project focused on high-resolution spherical panorama shots from a bird’s eye view. Being the largest resource for 360° aerial panoramas in the world – by geographical coverage, number of aerial photographs, and artistic and technical quality of the images, AirPano has already photographed over two hundred most interesting locations on our planet, including North Pole, Antarctica, Mariana Trench, and even the Earth's view from the stratosphere. There are nearly two thousand 360° panoramas on our website at the moment.
I'm interested in panoramas since I started taking pictures digitally. The "real" start came when I read the book "The Wild Side of Photography" by Cyril Harnischmacher. In one chapter was a description of making little planets. That was in spring 2010. Since then I have taken about 90 panos. In the meantime I use a Nodal Ninja 5 and a Sigma 10-20 to take the panos.
Commercial photographer and videographer. I specialize in panoramic photography and virtual tour creation for museums, architects, real-estate and other commercial clients.
Unsure how your project can be photographed? How to produce the highest quality or a desire to innovate? Your challenge is my passion!
During the years I had the joy of "hanging" my photographic equipment outside of skyscrapers, rigging cameras inside machines, building creative concepts and flying to the ends of earth for the most thrilling projects.
In my work it's important for me maintain the highest quality of work and product. I believe that a properly executed work, with no compromises, will stay relevant longer and attract more clients. Especially today when we are overwhelmed by so many images all the time. Here's my value, that's my clients' differentiation.
I'm always on the look for my next challenge, be it a large scale project or something small that just needs to be done properly.
You are invited to watch some behind the scenes of the largest panorama in Israel

After relocating to North Wales I realised that I moved to a very beautiful place on earth; there are mile long beaches and 1000m high mountains all in reach of 20 miles.
Inspired by the landscape, I decided to get back into an old hobby of mine - back from the old SLR and film days - photography. This coupled with good software and the internet can create some really great impressions from all around the world.
So I guess i will take my role in this and try to present the North Wales area in some 360 panoramas. This will definitely get me out, whatever the weather.
There are more panoramas I made on panorama-photo.net. Most comments there are in German but the panoramas are in the universal language
I am a VR photographer from Hanover.
Hanover is the capital of the federal state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), Germany.
The city is a major center of northern Germany, known for hosting annual commercial expositions such as the Hanover Fair and the CeBIT.
Annually on exhibitions to Hanover come hundred thousand businessmen from all over the world. Unfortunately they not always have enough free time to the full to familiarize with sights of this remarkable city.
I hope my panoramas will help them to fill this lack and virtually to take a walk across Hanover.

Have been working with digital photography since 1999. In the beginning I used an Olympus E3 and a home made pano head, unfortunatly I forgot it on the roof of my car after the Redwood pano was taken. Now I'm using the Nodal Ninja pano head for most of my work, and I reasently upgraded to an Olympus OMD E-M1 body.
Since the mid-90s I have been working as a graduate photographic engineer in the field of photography, as well as in the design and programming of interactive multimedia applications. Since 2002 I have been working as a multimedia developer and panoramic photographer under the label schnurstracks gestaltung und interaktion. My clients come from the fields of advertising, industry, commerce, services, politics and administration. My specialties are virtual tours, photo based virtual reality and interactive 360°x180° panoramic photography with krpano.
I first came into contact with panoramic photography back in 2009 when a friend showed me some little planet pictures he created with Hugin. Since then I was hooked and started to devour tutorials on how to create such astonishing pictures.
Initially I was using equipment I borrowed from the university where I studied at the time. Later on I got my own gear suited for the task. The technique improved over time, as hopefully did the results as well ;-)
Enjoy.
I was born in Switzerland back in 1946 and inherited my father's dedication (addiction??) for photography. I am grateful for this 'genetic endowment' because it opened my eyes for the beauty of this world.
My life-long dream to live in the USA became true in 2008 when we finally were lucky winners in the 'Green Card Lottery'. Now we're living in North Salt Lake, Utah where the world is even more beautiful than anywhere else, at least in my eyes ;-)
Humans have this extraordinary sense of sight to see the world, not only in a wide angle perspective but in 'panorama mode'. So I was never happy I had to use the 2:3 format to show the beauty of our world. Therefore I created my first panos back in the 80-s, back then using paper, scissors and glue. The first digital 360° single row pano I took about 2002 on top of our home in Liechtenstein using a 1 MegaPixel HP Camera. What a progress, no more glue, no more scissors!
Some years ago I walked right into the '360Cities-trap'. I was not only flabbergasted, I immediately knew that's how I wanted to express myself. So I started at the very bottom of the learning curve and was lucky enough to get in contact with John Austin Roberts who was a great mentor for me. I have to give my sincere thanks to him. And thanks to all members of our community for the inspiration.
I started my career as an officer in the early nineties. My big interest in technology led me early into the field of planning IP networks for the Swedish armed forces. After a few years, I went out civilian and worked with the development of data warehousing. Now I am working on a telecom operator with mostly solution architecture in major IT projects and with Enterprise Architecture in general.
My interest in photography has followed me through the years, some of it you can see in my photo blogg fotosmeden.se.
I'm an engineer by training and an artist by inclination. I've been doing photography since the early 1970's and created my first panorama in 2003. I'm now located in Walpole, New Hampshire and make trips around the region to photograph scenic spots that I love. I like the 360 Cities platform and exploring the world with their 360 degree panoramas. For more of my work go to www.brianshriverphotography.com
Of course, I take a picture of a usual advertising photograph. However, web is not existence on the side of advertising photograph that can be disregarded recently. Then, when I saw panorama VR taking a picture and production for the first time, the point and I felt it interesting. In addition, I can discover interest different by know the existence of 360cities, and cooperate with others.
Geographer, teacher and author, living and working in the south west of the UK. In my spare time I'm a climber, surfer and mountain-biker, and keen landscape photographer.
I'm interested in the way that panoramas are used in the classroom and I aim to use 360 Cities to create a bank of images to support geography teaching. I would consider taking on commissioned projects as well.

I have been going to India 2 times a year for the past 5 or 6 years to learn more about how they work with large animals. Have been to all of the large animal events and many other places there too. I first started shooting VR Photos at the Pushkar Camel Fair, then some of the other camel events, elephant events, forts, palaces and old ruins.

Self made photographer, specialized in panoramics. Previously a multimedia developer creating business presentations and cd-rom for museums. The early panoramas were made with compact camera's, these delivered nice cilindrical images but that wasn't enough so I invested time and money to go pro in the panorama field. C360.NL is the result.
I'm Julien, 32, living near Paris. I have been into panoramic photography for 8+ years now. I think that 360° panoramas are really taking photography to the next level.
From my travels, I brought back many panoramas that I now regularly publish on this site and my blog.
Indeed, I am also the guy behind the Exploration Junkie panorama travel blog - with, you guessed it, spherical and cylindrical panoramas from my explorations, photo galleries and more!
This includes among the first panoramas of the archipelago of Raja Ampat (West Papua, Indonesia) and the Sultanate of Brunei on Borneo Island.
I do my best to develop my website and this profile on 360Cities, don't hesitate to say hi if you like my panos!
Thanks for visiting my page.
Don Manion grew up in suburban New York. Eager to explore areas that were new and unknown to him, he quickly learned to turn toward the nearby Long Island Sound as an avenue of discovery. Open spaces and wilderness seem to speak to him in a way that can be better understood through his photographic works.
Besides the many years developing his eye while working and cruising on the US and Canadian north eastern coast, Don has also lived in the desert Southwest for the last 10 years.
Rarely without a camera Don has turned to panoramic photography to better share some of his experiences with anyone who ever felt passionate about what is up the next canyon!
Dividing his time between the Southwest and Coastal New England, Don is comfortable in many environments.

I discovered panoramic photography in the year 2000 after getting my first digital camera (a canon digital elph) which came with its own primitive panorama stitching software. Soon after that I imagined that a virtual tour of Prague, one of the world's most beautiful cities, would be a great idea. I first worked on prague360.com with Adam Trachtman. At the time, there were no google maps (or any other mapping API) available for Prague, and it took some time to even find a high-resolution street map of Prague that could be used for this purpose. The original site used a flash-based map component combined with interactive panoramas played via the QTVR / Shockwave / Spi-v / Java / DevalVR plugins.
At the time, prague360.com was one of the Internet's first websites combining a map with georeferenced 360º photos - predating Google Streetview by two years.
When the Google Maps API became available, Prague360.com morphed into 360cities.net, and more and more panoramic photographers used this platform to publish their growing collections of 360º photos. The company was formally founded in 2007 with angel investment. In 2008 it became integrated with Google Earth, where it remains over ten years later. 608076502
In 2014 I started my next company, Sphericam, designing and building professional-grade 360º cameras for Virtual Reality.

Ali Barnawi, freelancer panorama photograper, Born and raised in Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, Suadi Arabia. Worked previously as Manager of IT Department in King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex. First approached 360° photography as a photographer and programmer within the team that photographed the panoramas of the Prophet Mohammad's Mosque (peace be
upon him). Excellent experience in 360° photography .
I am a hobbyist photographer from Estonia, who got exited about panoramic photography the moment I saw the panorama picture mode on the first digital compact camera I had access to. Those old cylindrical panos with lots of stitching errors seem somewhat less than spectacular now, but they sure are nostalgic :)
Nowadays I carry my fisheye with me all the time, and a small selection of what I shoot ends up here.
Some of my non-panoramic pictures can be seen here
I have worked in many capacities within the fields of education, information technology, multi-media and instructional design, in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Romania, and in the USA. An avid photographer for most of my life, I began exploring 360 VR photography while working with faculty and students and in 2010 attended the IVRPA Conference in Tuscon. From there I became an avid 360 VR photographer and immersive media maker, as well as teaching workshops on 360 photography.

Ivan Aliverti escaped Milan and did his very first dive in 1991 with a camera in his hands and hasn’t been able to let go of it since. His diving career took him from Kenya, through Sardinia and the Maldives to the Red Sea, where he has worked for the last 14 years. He took his first picture when he was 14 and took his first underwater picture in 1992. Since then, he has been filming, taking pictures and winning competitions doing both. A real ‘Aliverti’ is more than just an image, he manages to truly capture the moment and convey to you the essence of his surroundings. www.360-images.com

”How did you get into that?' That's the question I get from people viewing my website or one of my prints. If it's a 'little planet view' they are often tipping their head or in some cases shaking it. I guess you could say there are two elements that draw me to this kind of photography. One would be getting high and the other would be looking around with a wide angle view.
I'm not sure where the getting high thing started. Perhaps it was my dad putting me on a booster seat in his Piper Comanche and letting me do the elevator and ailerons while he did the rudder. I couldn't reach. Perhaps it’s a 60s thing. I won't go into that too much. It's a blur anyway. Getting up high has not always worked out for me. From falling out of the top bunk in Indian Guides to tumbling backwards out of a willow tree from 40' at the age of 10 to a botched hang gliding launch at the age of 38, I have certainly taken my lumps. I suspect more than a few people think these sudden jolts to my brain matter account for my fixation on the 'little planet views'. In spite of all this I must say I have enjoyed the sensation and the view some altitude provides, from late afternoon flights with an Eagle just off my glider's wingtip, to sunsets perched in a cave on the side of a cliff. I suppose I'm getting stodgy because I get my views from a remote control camera mount on a tethered blimp or a 45' pole with a robot named Ansel on top but somehow I still manage to get my fix.
The wide angle view thing I think stems from my 'day job' doing computer aided design. I'm always rotating 3D models and zooming in and out so when I saw my first interactive panorama on the web I was hooked quickly. I also think It just goes with getting high. You climb the cliff to get the wide angle view. I've heard a spherical panorama described as 'all that can be seen from a point'. I like to think of 'little planet views' and
'tunnel views' as all that can be seen from a point seen all at once. I hope you all 'enjoy the view.'
Thanks for looking,
Chris Blake

Photography is my passion, and I know it's yours. When other tourists turn over in their beds or are having a scrumptious dinner, we find ourselves outside, trying to get the light just right on that one subject we have been trying to catch all week. "How many photos can you take of that?" people ask. "Until I capture it the way I want it," we know the answer is; and then some more.
For the panoramas, I use a Pentax K20D with a Sigma 10-20mm F/4-5.6 EX DC lens and a Nodal Ninja 3 MKII panoramic head.
I have been creating 360-degree panoramas since 2006. In 2008, my partner Jared Varon and I founded Circlescapes Virtual Tours. Circlescapes works closely with businesses in many different industries and located all over the USA and even the world. Our virtual tours feature full-screen, fully spherical images, a customized interface and the ability to add lots of different media, like video, audio, slideshows and more.
We are excited to be contributing to the 360Cities website. Please get in touch with us if you want to partner, ask us a question or hire us to do some panoramas for your project!
We don't do commercial photography and we are not interested in shooting as a means of income. We shoot beautiful scenic spots in Rostov-on-Don for the story and would be grateful to anyone who will give us a unique, beautiful place to shoot.
We mainly engaged in video shooting in 4K and spherical panoramas shooting less.
Our video Channel about Rostov-na-Donu can watch it on YouTube: ROSTOVisualFX
Beginners in Spherical photos can recommend our video tutorial on Erasure of the tripod in the Nadir (bottom panorama) and add there own logo.
All of our panoramas was made on camera 360 Samsung Gear, if You are satisfied with is the quality of our panoramas you can recommend to purchase this camera.
Although this camera has a number of disadvantages. The occurrence of perspiration and condensation, through 15 shooting this is the worst drawback.
Also Gear 360 supports only a very limited number of compatible phones (SGS 6 and SGS 7 only). Although the camera can run autonomously without connection to the phone at all. But in this case You will not be able to change the settings of White Balance, exposure Compensation, ISO Limit, and also enable HDR mode. However, there is a solution, we had programmers, and they did a modified version of the application supported by older phones (SGS4 for example), as well as phones from other manufacturers (other than Samsung).
Download a modified version of remote app for Samsung Gear 360 with support for all phones running Android 5.x You can follow this link: Samsung Gear 360 Manger Mod RVFX360

I can't remember when I saw a spherical for the first time, but I remember that it fascinated me. It is such a great way to transport yourself around the world.
I made my first panoramic back in 2007 with a homemade panoramic head. I got myself a proper panohead in 2008 and have dipped in and out of the hobby ever since.
I work making technical computer graphics animations for engineering companies. Sometimes I use my panoramics as backgrounds or reflection maps in my work, but for the most part I make panoramics just for fun.
Typically I don't have enough time for photography, let alone panoramics, but a recent injury has forced me to cut down on sports and find some more relaxing activities.
I make my panoramics with a Canon EOS 7D, Sigma 8mm or Sigma 10-20mm, Nodal Ninja, and the fantastic PT GUI.
I am really pleased to be a member of 360cities. The website provides a fantastic way to share and explore panoramics, and the integration with Google Earth is simply fantastic.

Guten Tag,
oder wie man in unserer Region sagt... Moin.

Good Day ,
or how in our region says ... Moin.
Nice that you are on my Site at 360Cities , I hope you enjoy the look of my spherical Panoramas .
I'm in 1965 in Norden (East Frisia) born and have lived in the meantime in many East Frisian Places.
For over 14 Years I live in the beautiful city of Aurich and do around here most of my Shots.
My first Camera I bought at the tender age of 6 Years. After long work breaks I photographed with a analog SLR to digital technology then got the upper Hand .
I photograph at the Time with the Panomaxx2-Premium Nodalpunktadapter of Konado.
Most of my spherical Panoramas I do in HDR (bracketing).
I hope you enjoy looking at the spherical Panoramas and while exploring the beautiful East Frisia.
Günter Jibben
This is the part where I’m supposed to write about myself in the third person – as if someone hijacked my website and decided to say a bunch of great stuff about me.
Instead I’ll say this: I’m just a regular everyday normal guy who likes to take pictures.
I havent been to the moon or to the bottom of the sea. But I have travelled and lived in many far away places and had a lot of amazing adventures. I've taken a lot of neat photos along the way.
I’ve been published in books and magazines, but not nearly enough to be a super famous millionaire. My parents are proud of me and love my pictures and thats the better than any amount of money or fame I could ever get.
I'm a curious person by nature and I like to combine science, nature and technology to create art and explore the amazing universe that we live in, from photos of tiny ants drinking from a drop of water to giant galaxies colliding with each other in space.
I believe that if I can take a photo that enables a person to see something in a new way, pause for a moment and think or ask a question, I believe that I have done my job as a photographer.
I could list my publication credits and professional accomplishments, and tell you what other people have said about me but my mom and dad would be more than happy to do that job for me.
Lets be friends, better yet, lets take a trip to the moon. - Jeff
Photographed in Hiroshima in October, 1945.
The photographer’s comments:
On October 1, 1945, I stood at the hypocenter of the Hiroshima atomic bombing and made a slow revolution. In that instant I had a difficulty grasping that this city had been felled by a single explosion. Nothing in my experience had prepared me to conceive of that magnitude of destructive force.
Working as an army engineer for three years, I had dealt with explosive materials on a daily basis, and I thought I knew their power. Standing there, I simply could not accept at an emotional level that a single bomb had done all this.
See the other Hiroshima 1945 panoramas.
I just started VR photography this year, 2009. My VR equipment includes a full-frame, CMOS sensor, Canon 5D, 8 mm Sigma lens, Nodal Ninja head on a Basalt Gitzo tripod. Processing is done using PTGui Pro running on a MacBook with two external HDs and a 22 inch monitor. HDR panoramas are my standard product. Tallahassee, my hometown, is the Capitol of Florida, and a University town with Florida State University and Florida A&M. Located in north Florida, Tallahassee is surrounded by national forest and and is 25 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Therefore, there are abundant photographic opportunities here, but I do travel, primarly to visit family in Virginia and to hike in the mountains of the western US.

I've had a life-long interest in photography that started back in the film days. I even had a darkroom at one point. Then came digital and things really got fun.
I've always viewed photography as a way to show others as realistically as possible the beautiful places on earth. For years I felt like standard single-frame photography was like looking through a key-hole.
Then came single-row panoramas and the key-hole opened up. I could photograph to some degree what I was seeing.
Finally, I found spherical panoramas and the key-hole is gone - one more dimensional limitation removed. Now I feel like I can show the viewer what I saw.

My focus is on 360 degree panoramic images in virtual tours for commercial real estate properties to use in marketing.
My goal is to create 360 degree panoramic online tours viewing experiences where the viewer receives an experience that is as close as possible to the actual experience of being at the place where the panorama tour was shot using high quality images. This marketing feature will significantly reduce the time it takes for prospects to tour properties and allow landlords and listing agents to close transactions faster by having prospects ready to purchase before physically visiting a property.

These panoramas are about New Castle, Delaware where I live. I went to college in Williamsburg, VA, which probably gave me a love for Colonial Revival buildings and history! Hi everyone,
I run a Virtual Tours company based in Cornwall, Truro - UK (Into3D - www.into3d.co.uk). I started out designing websites back in 1994 & since then have found that the technologies available to designers have massively increased. I remember seeing a 360 for the first time and being awestruck, since then I have never looked back. 360 photography is now the main focus of my company & I feel privileged that I can spend every day doing what I love most.

What you see here, basically, are my holiday snaps.
I may have gone the extra mile to do them as panoramas, but they are more about capturing the moment, to remind me of what the places I visited were like, rather than some super-glossy work of art.
As such they are far from perfect, but I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I am a secondary school science teacher based in Cornwall, UK. My main camera is a Canon 1000D and I enjoy dabbling in HDR photography - using Luminance HDR, and panoramic photography - using Hugin. My main image editor is the GIMP and I have a home-made panoramic tripod, which is proving adequate, but will need to be upgraded soon!

Taking pictures motivates me since about 25 years. Starting in the analog time with a b/w and color lab at home I now use a Canon 300D and 40D. Technologies learned during the analog time could be imrpooved and new digital technolgies enables to expanded the horizon of photography. Cubic panoramas are a good example for such a new technology that requires digital processing.
For panorama pictures I use a Canon 40D body with a Peleng 8mm f/3.5 lens and a Manfrotto 303plus combined with Novoflex panorama=Q head. For stitching I use PTGuiPro.
If you would like to see some other pictues taken by me, I would like you to invite to visit my gallery: http://www.jenshaun.de
I'm a retired software and systems engineer who worked in cancer research, medical imaging and chip design. I got hooked on panoramic photography in 2004, when I converted a document scanner into a rotating digital slit camera. Eventually built 5 of those; but finally realized I could only get the pictures I wanted by using real cameras and stitching software.
I got into developing open source panography software (Hugin, libpano) around 2008. In 2009, I co-rediscovered an 18th century painters' technique for rendering wide views in a natural looking perspective, and have been evangelizing it unde the name "Panini projection" (it has been implemented several times and is also called the "vedutismo" and "recti-perspective" projection). I developed and published several programs that offer new ways to control wide angle photo and video perspective, under the general name, "Panini".
My latest effort is PT3D, a helper program for stitching stereoscopic panoramas with PTGui. I hope eventually to develop a true 3D stitching tool, that can combine hand-held stereo snapshots into seamless spherical panoramas.

For more than 25 years I have been photographing. Covering important events like weddings and baptisms led to child photography and portrait photography.
Travelling in places like the Mediterranean region, China, Thailand, Borneo, Polynesia, Australia, Galapagos and South America has provided golden opportunities to capture motives within the categories of wildlife and nature which are additional two important elements in my work. Just as landscape, cityscape, and architecture are passions of mine; where also panorama and 360° images come into play.

Born in 1981 in Berlin, Germany, and now a resident of Uppsala, Sweden, Florian's ambition for photography began as a child when his mother entrusted him more and more often with the family camera to take pictures of vacations or other events. Having been made aware already at an early age of important photographic qualities such as light, composition or the expression in peoples' faces has always encouraged him to go beyond simple “snapshots” and to continuously see the world with a photographic eye.
Today, Florian is an ambitious and avid amateur photographer, doing freelance work for various people and organisations where he lives. He loves to focus on landscape and architectural photography but also enjoys event photography, small portrait and studio sessions as well as product shoots and panoramic photography.
His panoramic photography and related services can be found over at www.pano.ie. This also includes photography workshops, both for groups and one-on-one training (be it locally or remote via Skype).

Based in Belgium, Herman began taking photos about 15 years ago, first as a hobby developing into a real passion. He studied photography at the local art school. Being a keen mountaineer gave him ample opportunity for fantastic landscape and nature photos. However, he has also built up experience with studio and portrait work.
His pictures have been published in magazines like National Geographic as well as various newspapers. Some of his work can be found on his website, www.hermandesmet.be and also on his personal blog.
Herman has lately specialized in architecture, real-estate and panorama photography, expanding into 360° panoramas and virtual tours for internet use. He feels that nowadays everybody can make digital photos, but doing a perfect 360°-180°VR panorama is a skill on its own requiring special equipment and lots of practice, patience and knowledge of photography to get the best results. But when you succeed in making a gorgeous digital 360 panorama, it amazes people like they were amazed in the pre-internet era when they saw a huge print of a fantastic picture.
And, for Herman, amazing people is what his photography is all about.
