History The dream of establishing a "University of the Jewish People" in the Land of Israel formed an integral part of the early Zionist vision. With the acquisition of the Gray Hill estate atop Mount Scopus, and the laying of the cornerstone for the university-to-be in 1918, the realization of the dream was on its way.

Seven years later, on April 1, 1925, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem was opened at a festive ceremony attended, among others, by leaders of world Jewry including the University's founding father, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, distinguished academics and communal leaders of the Yishuv, and British dignitaries including Lord Balfour, Viscount Allenby and Sir Herbert Samuel. Also in attendance were Chief Rabbi Abraham Isaac Hacohen Kook, the poet Haim Nahman Bialik and many others.

The First Board of Governors of the University, chaired by Dr. Weizmann, included such luminaries as Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Martin Buber, Haim Nahman Bialik, Asher Ginsberg (Ahad Ha'am), Dr. Judah Leib Magnes, James Rothschild, Sir Alfred Mond, Nahum Sokolov, Harry Sacher and Felix M. Warburg.

The University's first three research institutes - in microbiology, chemistry and Jewish studies - had 33 faculty members and 141 students. In 1931, the University awarded its first degrees, the Master of Arts, to 13 graduates.

By 1947, the University had grown to a large, well-established research and teaching institution, encompassing humanities, science, medicine, education and agriculture (the last at a campus in Rehovot); the Jewish National and University Library; a University press; and an adult education center. Student enrollment exceeded 1,000 and there were some 200 faculty members.

The War of Independence in 1948 left the University campus cut off from Israeli west Jerusalem, and alternative facilities were found throughout the city. In 1953, construction began on a new main campus at Givat Ram in the heart of Jerusalem. A few years later work began on a health sciences campus in Ein Kerem in southwest Jerusalem, in partnership with the Hadassah Medical Organization. By the beginning of 1967, the number of faculties and schools had been greatly expanded, and enrollment exceeded 12,500.

With the reunification of Jerusalem in the Six-Day War of June 1967, work began on restoring and expanding the Mount Scopus campus. In 1981, the historical Mount Scopus campus again became the main home of the University. The University has since continued to grow, with the addition of new buildings, establishment of new programs, and recruitment of outstanding scholars, researchers and students, in fulfillment of its commitment to excellence.

Cilicia and Mersin
Cilicia Region roughly extends from the Manavgat River, through the southern foothills of the Taurus Mountains, to the Amanus Mountains. According to the geological structure, Cilicia is divided into two as the Rugged Cilicia (Cilicia Trachaea) and the Flat Cilicia (Cilicia Pedias ). The border between the Rugged Cilicia and the Flat Cilicia was the Lamos at times and the Soli at others. 
As it is known to those who toured around the area, there exist three gates that enable access to this land through a rugged course. The first of these is the Sertavul Pass, which is located to the north of Mut District. The second one is the Cilician Gate, which is known as the Gülek Pass and hosts a rock bearing the inscription “the Cilician Border”, and the last one is the Belen (Syria) Gate on the route to Hatay Province. 
Surrounded by Gazipaşa District of Antalya Province to the west, the provinces of Konya, Karaman and Niğde to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the east, Mersin was annexed to the land of Ottomans in 1516 during the reign of (Yavuz) Selim I. It was then ruled by Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Pasha for some time, but later Ottomans gained control of the area once again.
Mersin Province was founded in 1924. Districts of Silifke, Anamur, Gülnar and Mut were annexed to Mersin Province, and the Province was renamed as ‘İçel’. It is thought that the long-used “İçel” name derived from the name given to the site by Turkish people who settled in the areas located on either side of Göksu River during the 12th century, or has actually transformed from “Uç-il/ Uç-el” denomination used by Anatolian Seljuk Sultanate for this “Uç ülke, uç diyar (literally: the frontier land)” located beyond the Taurus Mountains. Erdemli district was founded in 1954; then followed Aydıncık District (1987), Bozyazı and Çamlıyayla Districts (1989). In 2001, the name ‘İçel’ was, once again, replaced by “Mersin” due to intensive pressure from the citizens. Having a Metropolitan City status, Mersin is divided into four central districts, namely Akdeniz, Toroslar, Mezitli and Yenişehir. Including Tarsus District, Mersin has 13 districts in total.

MERSİN (Center)
It was revealed in the excavations performed in Yumruktepe site that the history of Mersin dates back to 7000 BC. The settlement found on the northwestern part of the current City center flourished around 7000 BC, and continued to exist expanding even larger.
Zephyrion, which is perceived as the antique settlement of Mersin, is localized somewhere between the Governor’s Residence and the Orthodox Church. Archeological findings gathered especially during the salvage excavations performed in the New Cultural Center constructed here and in the Old Public House garden, and the Kuros statute, which was excavated from the same area and displayed in Mersin Museum, are attributed to the Antique City of Zephyrion. The city, which was referred to as a ‘Polis’ during the Hellenistic Period and the Persian Period (and in later periods, as Hadrianapolis), was captured by Shapur I in 260 AD. While it was among the cities of Cilica I Region during the Byzantine Empire Period, it transformed into a prominent port city in the first quarter of the 19th century. 
There are numerous opinions and myths about the roots of the name “Mersin”. The most widely-known one derives from the ‘Myrtus-Murt-Myrtle’ tree, the yield of the Mediterranean Climate, which is called “hambales” by Arabs. According to another opinion, the name Mersin is inherited from the Mersin Tribe, which was one of the Turkmen tribes in history. In his Seyahatname (literally: ‘Book of Travel’), Evliya Celebi notes that he stayed in a village called “Mersinoğlu”, which is located on the northwestern part of the present-day Mersin. 
The Myth is as follows:
The name Mersin came from the princess Myrna, daughter of the Cypriot King. Gods pitying Myrna, who had been cursed by the goddess Aphrodite, brought her ashore to Mersin. The place was named as Mersin because of that incident.

The Municipality of Chersonissos comprises of the coastal area and the inland mountainous province. The main income source for people in the coastal area is the tourism industry. The Municipality of Chersonissos was formed at the 2011 local government reform by the merger of the following 4 former municipalities, that became municipal units: Episkopi, Gouves, Chersonissos and Malia

Tourist attractions include intact landscape, picturesque villages, agricultural museums, animal farms, cultural tours, ancestral pathways and a number of historical monuments and sites. Main archaeological sites include the Minoan Palaces of Malia and Amnissos (the summer Palace of King Minos) the Archaeological sites of Niros, Karfi (Minoan refuge) as well as ambiguous antiquities from the Classical, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine era. Visitors are able to enjoy extreme leisure activities such as paragliding, water sports, bungee jumping, golf and mountain bike.

 

I love to travel and love to photograph. It's been a long way from 35mm slides to spherical panoramas! I find that the spherical panos really alter photography. For the first time the viewer is no longer bounded by the borders of the frame. Of course the photographer still controls many aspects of the view, but there is a very real sense of "like beeing there" that doesn't happen even with large cylindrical panoramas. For exploring unknown places to go visit or getting excited about new sites it's a new world!

I take most of the panos using a 10.5mm fisheye lens on a Nikon D200 camera. Many times I hand-hold the 8-9 shots using the "string method" to avoid large parallax errors. Sometimes I use a tripod with a nodal nija panoramic head, but my enthusiasm to carry a tripod around is rather limited. At the end of the day the photography needs to be secondary to the enjoyment of the place!

I try to write descriptions for all my published panoramas to describe the place and also why I bothered going there and taking the shot. I got my formal education here at the University of South Florida and I got a whole lot of informal education here as well. For more then 35 years now, I'm active in the photographic scene as a.... photographer.

In those years many advertising agencies and private clients were served with the most challenging and tempting photography. Despite the fact that I never like to do a job twice, I did Paris Dakar four times and that resulted in a lifetime addiction to the Sahara. Many trips after that were undertaken to this part of the world but since the unrest in that area I now have another passion: Making panorama's with the help of a mobile 20 meter tall mast. I do serve the area around Hungary since we moved to this part of Europe.

The reason for this move? It's new developing part of the European Union and knows many undiscovered places and histories.

Next to the panorama's we'r also still active as social engaged photographer and that way we also do work for NGO's the world allover.

I got my first camera to my children's first communion. If I remember correctly, it was a simple roll film camera by Kodak with a 6 * 6 roll. Later, i am acquired the first SLR camera as a family camera. In the youth, we had been much experimenting with aperture, Exposure time and flash. Steps in the black and withe - laboratory were also present. But with the chemistry I did not have it in such a way.

Now, professional life began. In the past 25 years I've scurrying me in the IT - industry and left little time for photography.

When the first affordable and useful digital cameras came on the market, around the turn of the millennium, I jumped on. I was fascinated by the opportunity to get my photographed pictures going directly into the computer. My first digital was the compact camera Canon G2. Also this camera had in 2002 a panorama function, which has received the panoramic virus in me.

At Villa Dundar you are surrounded by trees and flowers in the large garden and pool with the hills, mountains and bays beyond. There is beautiful birdsong, the hum of cicadas and the soothing sound of the sea washing over the pebbles on the beach - magic. It's like living in a national park. The world famous Lycian Way hike goes right by the house and when you walk into town you are walking on it.

You dont need to have a car if you like walking. The beach is an easy walk down the hill and there are 6 restaurants. You can walk into Kas (30 minutes) and come back on the dolmuses (50p each) or taxis (4 pound) . Each morning the baker van toots his horn outside and you can buy your fresh bread.

Making 360° Panoramas is a hobby, it is a field of photography that I find quite interesting and diverse. From the taking of the images, through to processing and finally displaying the views online, I can get a little absorbed on the project at hand, it is also a good diversion from the day job ;)

Bordeaux, located between mountains, the beach and the vineyards, has been added to UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage. It is a pleasure for me to photograph the places and monuments of Bordeaux and the Aquitaine region.

Mexico360 º is an innovative project, developed by Guillermo Palacios of the city of Aguascalientes, Mexico whose main goal is to know the various tourist attractions and malls across the country, so position it with the other countries already using this technology

I am a member of the team developing the project called VisitEcuador. Our project aims to contribute to the dissemination of tourism and culture of our country Ecuador.

 

Albert Brunsting was born in 1954 in Ruinerwold and has turned his hobby in short time into his job. After high school in Meppel, he studied photography and audiovisual-design at the Art Academy in Breda. After graduating in 1981, he settled as an independent photographer and producer in his home village.
Brunsting has worked for large clients such as the Emmen Zoo and many other big companies. Besides photo-productions Albert Brunsting also produced a lot of video- and audiovisual production. Best known are the several productions in the Biochron of the Emmen Zoo on 3 screens with 9 slide projectors. For several clients many foreign trips were made.

In addition to photography, the production of video presentations are still an important part of his work, the many possibilities the new media offer, have broadened the scope of Albert Brunsting. In addition to linear video productions such as corporate presentations, clips and movies for internet, there are also opportunities for inter-active productions. But also the production of documentaries belong to his work, amongst others for the artists Thom Puckey and Kees Thijn.

In the remaining time there is sometimes sparse time for free work, mostly this concerns travel photography, the reason he visited several continents and many countries. In november 2008 he visited New Zealand for the first time. He was struck by the Green, the space and the peace. In his own words: ' it's like if you get in a time machine in New Zealand, back to the sixties: no stress, no overpopulation. Later there were several trips to New Zealand.

I was born on the 27 may 1957 in Aalst, Belgium.
Photographic addict for many years, first in black and white with my own dark chamber.
Cameras owned: Konica, Zenith, canon A1, canon F1 until the 1985.
Then there was a photo less period. With a job that was also a hobby.
With the 300D on the market for a reasonable prize the old passion was back in picture.
Form the 300D to 30D, 50D, 5D and 5DmkII. And yes the wife still support de hobby.
Now using a Canon 5D mk II and a 50D for making panoramas together with a Peleng 8mm.

Graduated in computer engineering, Guga Siqueira is a technology enthusiast, art and music lover and passionate about nature, specially the ocean life. The interest for digital photography started back in the 90's when the first digital cameras used to store pictures in floppy disks.

After studying photography in France, My 1st job was in the photo journalism (2 years in French newspaper Ouest France). Then the winter seasons (Verbier, Switzerland) allowed me to discover nature, take time to have look. In my approach, an image must be read slowly discovering. I do not want to give everything, right away. Take time to look at my photos to see what is suggested. The more we look, the more one discovers. The ambition is to tell a story, to be emerging a sense. If you feel that watching my photos, then, is that I managed my work. People often tell me that my photos are 'dark'. In fact, I like playing with black shadows and strong contrasts. This allows me to keep a form of mystery, not fully reveal the image and give an 'aggression' in the image. This is also why the 'photographic printing' is very important to me. It dresses, it completes my idea. From this point of view, new technologies (digital, computer software), provide new tools to work the design of the picture. Currently I am working on the possibilities offered by the 360 °, virtual tour and with the same artistic and creative. I knew the 360 º panoramic photography in 2009. It really is a new reality! photography in another dimension! dynamic! interactive!

I hope to be able to record a little more of the beauty of where you go.

I am an amateur photographer - and would like it to remain so. But hopefully a decent panorama photographer. My interest in photography dates back to the days of the american lunar missions. The moon landing in 1969 was the real reason for buying my first semi-professional camera, a Nikkormat, to the vast sum of 1300 danish kroner (appr. 220 $) at that time. Being in high school, a Hasselblad, similar to the one used on the lunar expeditions, was way outside my economic means (perhaps one day? some dreams probably should remain dreams).

Hi, One day I discovered 360Cities in the Gallery layer of Google Earth.  What was this?  Wow, this is cool.  I wanted to learn how to make them myself and so began the exciting journey of learning all about shooting panoramas, stitching, and finding out how to get them on Google Earth.

Living at the eastern edge of the Great Basin in Utah I noticed that there were not many panoramas out west of I-15 in Utah all the way over to Reno Nevada. A few shots were in the mountains in Nevada by a fellow in Salt Lake City but other than that it was empty territory with all kinds of interesting places to take photos.  This was a good excuse to start exploring these areas to take panoramas that could be shared with everyone on Google Earth.

 Other areas of the world are well represented in 360Cities and as a way to show thanks to the other 360Cities photographers that have taken time to shoot their parts of the world, I decided that I would try to do my part by taking photos in the areas in the western United States that don't as of yet have any panoramic photos.

Panoramio photos (photos in the default layer in Google Earth) are interesting but don't give the feeling of being at that location like a well shot 360 panorama does.  I use Panoramio as a tool to locate interesting areas for 360 panorama shots.  A greater concentration of photos = an interesting area to be considered for a 360.

Its fun to study the maps and Google Earth, find some areas to shoot, learn the history about the area, take the photos, stitch and try to perfect the image, and then share the image on 360 Cities and Google Earth.

I am fairly conservative in my photographic technique, as I prefer to control as much as possible of the picture taking - the aperture; the focus; use of a fixed focal length lens; and use of a tripod whenever possible to frame and compose shots. Dan Bailey is Professor of Visual Arts and the Director of the Imaging Research Center at UMBC, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. 

His films and animations have received numerous national and international awards and have been included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris, France.  His work has been screened at the Kennedy Center, Whitney Museum, and Museum of Modern Art, and has been broadcast on HBO and PBS.

For the last 12 years, Bailey has been the director of UMBC’s Imaging Research Center (IRC). Recognizing imaging as a process that is rooted in art and design, incorporates science and technology, and vividly describes ideas, the IRC is a recognized center for interdisciplinary collaboration among artists, researchers, industry partners, and students in creating technologically advanced media works that communicate to and resonate with the general public. The Center is dedicated to investigating new technologies and their use for interpreting and presenting content.

I am a professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, primarily studying the impacts of climate change in arctic Alaska.  My main focus is glaciers, but also the influence that changing glaciers have on downstream ecosystems.  My panoramic photography is largely in support of these efforts.  I am trying to capture the current state of various landscape features in the arctic through spherical and gigapixels panoramas, so that we can assess how these features are changing in time.  These images are also a nice way to share the beauty of these remote places with those who may never have the opportunity to visit them in person.

Matjaž Kačičnik is a Slovenian professional photographer/photojournalist living in Cairo, Egypt. He is specialized in documenting cultural heritage and archaeological sites.

A resident of Egypt since 2004, Matjaž Kačičnik has worked with a variety of projects documenting Egypt’s unique material and cultural legacies, photographing pharaonic tombs and Cairo’s Islamic and Coptic monuments. He has also been exploring the works of his compatriot Anton Laščak (1856-1946), one of the most prominent Neo-Islamist artists in architecture, who served as court architect for the King of Egypt.

It all started in the summer of 1998, I discovered a few rotating images on a Japanese engineering demonstration disc. With a simple flick of the 'wand', you get to explore the whole construction site. I was absolutely fascinated by the magic of virtual reality and I had an epiphany that this is exactly what I want to do from that moment on--I want to travel all around China to capture her beauty, and let the world admire her culture, from an unbiased, comprehensive perspective.

This motivated me to establish the ChinaVR website with my partners and set up a panoramic archive for all Chinese World Heritages and tour resorts. Therefore, I was regarded as China's first VR panoramic photographer. I dedicated myself to the development and application of Panoramic photography and computer processing technique, among them, Floating panorama and Motion panorama are well received by my peers. Thanks to the support of IVRPA and WWP, ChinaVR became the top Panoramic website in China and gained reputation worldwide.

Since hundreds of thousands of Chinese people were drawn to panorama, I established a pano forum for the fans and offer them a platform to exhibit their works and share their excitement. I always encourage these friends to participate in WWP events despite the language barrier. My next step is to setup a panoramic gallery, organise a Chinese panoramic association and publish a professional magazine in China, to help Chinese pano fans to communicate with international peers.

For my personal plan, I am preparing to build some "pano-rooms", in which huge gigapixel panoramic photographs were printed on Advanced Semi-gloss Photo Paper and mounted on 4 walls, sometimes with "ceiling" and "floor". Each wall measured at least 3.5 x 3.5 meters, people stand in the center of the "room", to feel the atmosphere of reality and to watch the very fine details of the panorama even with a magnifier.

After relocating to The Netherlands, I come to realise that it's one of the most beautiful places on earth; tulips in springs and festivals in summer.

Inspired by 'foreign' daily events, I decided to get back into an old hobby - back from the old SLR and film days - photography. Coupled with good stitching software and today's fast internet, it enables me to share some really great impressions from around the world.

I will take my role in this, try to present the Netherlands and the area around it in some 360 panoramas. I only started photo stitching this spring 2013, but the pano community has some great resources online for me to learn from. You can say I'm green in this art form. I have been a lecturer in Geology at The University of Newcastle for the past 30 years.  My main reason for learning how to take full spherical panoramas was to aid with the development of virtual field trips.  More recently, the scope of these panoramas has expanded into the fields of architecture, botany, history and natural heritage.

In terms of equipment, I am a bit of a 'purist'.  All panoramas have been captured with Pentax DSLRs - early on with a K-70, then moving on to a K-3 Mark iii, and more recently a K-1 Mark ii.  Lens used is typically the SMC Pentax-DA 10-17mm F3.5-4.5 Fish-Eye ED [IF], with the exception of the infrared panoramas which were captured with the SMC Pentax-DA 12-24mm F4 ED AL [IF] and a Hoya R72 filter.  As of August 2023, I have been using the film era prime SMC Pentax-A 16mm F2.8 Fish-Eye with the K1 mark ii.  Cameras are mounted on a Cavix PH-720A panoramic head, which is in turn mounted on a Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ 263AP to facilitate nadir shots.  I shoot RAW imagery that is then processed in ACR and stitched in PTGui Pro.

I have worked in the field of computers and digital imaging for the past 33 years and been involved in the evolution and acceptance of computer imaging from both a hardware and software perspective since joining U.K. digital pioneer Quantel in 1984. 

During my time with Quantel, I was responsible for introducing digital technology to the arts and media industries in the U.S. from my base in Silicon Valley. I also travelled regularly to the U.K. to work with Qantel’s development team on the UI and functionality of what would become the industry standard of it’s time: the Quantel Paintbox.

In 1987, I left Quantel to start his own Hollywood based company, Electric Paint.  Employing this new digital technology I produced Key Art for major motion pictures including Edward Scissorhand, Terminator II, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Die Hard I & II, Silence of the Lambs, JFK & Born on the Fourth of July and album covers such as Michael Hutchence’s MaxQ, Nirvana’s Nevermind, Elvis Costello’s Spike, and The Beasty Boys’ St Paul’s Café. 

Returning to Australia in 1994, I established Red Square Productions, one of the country’s first Web Development Agencey. Red Square went on to develop long lasting business relationships with companies such Qantas, Telstra, YHA, Panasonic Australia, The Good Guys, Harvey World Travel, Maersk Line Shipping and the oneworld Alliance of Airlines. Red Square Productions was known for its innovative approach to web development, pioneering a number of technologies in Australia and popularising 360˚ immersive imagery, creating unique virtual tours of sporting locations such as Olympic Park, accommodation offerings by Australian Youth Hostels and promotional events for Panasonic Australia, Qantas and Telstra.

In 2008 I merged Red Square’s business with local agency Webqem, allowing me to pursue my interest in travel, 360˚ panorama photography, and all things digital. 

In 2012 I became involved with an Australian start-up company Mogeneration and its tablet publishing solution Oomph taking on the role of Creative Technologist.   

I was recognised in the Australian Mobile Awards for my work in developing the award winning apps for Sky-OneCentral Park (Frost Design/Fraser Properties), Experience the Highs ( New England (NSW) tourism) apps and his 360˚ panoramic photographic contribution to the MCA Anish Kapoor app.

In 2014 I returned to my home city of Adelaide to focus on new technologies and ways of providing 360˚ Panoramic Photography, 360˚ Video and 360˚ Web & App services.

Currently working as a Research Technician at the Norwegian Troll Station in Antarctica. Have published a few panos from here, made with my compact camera and the Hugin software.

Rick started shooting panos in the early 1980’s with a Nikon 35mm camera. This was back in the days of film, when panoramic images were painstakingly assembled by hand, and any correction was done in the dark-room.  His days of film are long gone, and now it’s 100% digital.  The darkroom was replaced by PhotoShop and his old Nikon F3 with a Kodak digital camera, then a Nikon, another Kodak, a canon 20D, and currently a Canon 7D.  He still has a couple of the Bogen tripods from 30 years ago, albeit with modern tripod heads.

The equipment I use is a Canon EOS 5D Mk III and also a EOS-7D. The lens is a Canon 8-15 mm Fish Eye, set to 8 mm.

Having recently rekindled my love of photography and am discovering the delights of shooting panoramics on my travels around the world

I am an amatuer photographer as it is a hobby and not a profession.  My panorama goal is to shoot interesting landscapes without man made structures and in locations where the general public does not access.  Occasionally, I will include a structure if it has significance with respect to the rest of the panorama.

Robert first saw spherical panoramas (or photo bubbles as they were called then in 1999) and wondered how they were created. After looking into the subject and finding Prof. Helmute Derschs early versions on Panotool he decided to give it a go.

His first spherical panorama was taken on 35mm film using a standard tripod head. The photos were processed, scanned and then stitched (there were no GUI frontend's it was text files). The alignment of the photos wasn't perfect, but it proved it could be done.

Over the years he has continually improved his camera setup and post processing process. On the camera side he went from a Nikon Coolpix 990 and FC-E8 fisheye lens through to currently a Nikon D300 and 10.5mm fisheye lens. While post processing he now used Adobe Lightroom 3 and PTGui.

He now takes his panoramic camera setup wherever he goes and enjoys shooting everything from local views to holiday destinations. He also has contributed to the World Wide Panorama project since the first event in March 2004.

Thanks for visiting. I am an amateur photographer, mechanical engineer, machinist, entrepreneur, builder of widgets and airplanes, pilot, hunter, and a motorcycle racer. I shoot panoramas with a Canon 5D MII using a 16/35mm and a 15mm fisheye. I am continuously amazed at the incredible engineering behind our own human eye. As photographers, we attempt to reproduce how the human eye captures light and color. In controlled conditions we can simulate what this feat of engineering does so effortlessly.

How foolish and insulting to the designer and builder, to attribute this spectacular universe and world to an accident. As an engineer, I would liken it to touring the space shuttle and attributing it to the work of an amateur - not knowing or caring that the chief engineer is your guide - and you thought he was just a volunteer.

After forty eight years of working for large corporations in a technical management capacity, I have retired and begun to explore my lifelong interest in photography. In the sixties I enjoyed spending many hours in my basement darkroom processing black and white film and photographs. Later on, in the early seventies, I began to work part time as a wedding photographer for a large studio and then in my own business. Working forty plus hours a week, combined with all the photography work on the side, caused me to become an unfamiliar face with my own children and I reverted back to photography as a hobby. Now, that every night is a Friday night and every day a Saturday, I am taking advantage of my free time doing what I have enjoyed for so long. Things have changed quite a bit over the years. The hours spent in the darkroom with my enlarger are now spent in front of my computer with Photoshop and Lightroom. I hope you enjoy the photos I will be posting.

I've always been fascinated with photography in general but there is something about the wide angle shots and landscape pictures that definitely attracts me the most. I like to travel and record as much as I can see - The world is beautiful and I hope I can travel even further than I have been in the past -

I have started creating panoramas around the late 2010 - the proper one's where I have to stitch a series of pictures using HUGIN and complementing it with photoshop for some 'editing' ...they were rough but I learn and I am still learning until now ... mind you it took me a while to figure out how to get rid of the hole in the 'Zenith' and the 'Nadir' - that is after countless googles ...

My latest one's were done using HDR brackets shots ...Yayyyy !!! - I find it with HDR, I can depict a more realistic scenery or make it 'surreal' which I am not going to anyway ... I am proud of my works and I hope you enjoy and share the same fascination with me for my creations .... Thank you for visiting ...

A panoramic photographer based along the Suffolk Heritage Coast.

I am a (mostly) amateur photographer lucky enough to travel often professionally. Whenever I'm travelling I'm bringing my tripod and camera along, so I can shoot panoramas. I plan to upload most of my non-profit panos here.

I also shoot panos professionally for corporations or institutions - sadly I'm not allowed to post them here for most of them. References include Nokia and BNP Paribas.

I started taking pictures and panoramas in 2005. My first setup was a Nikon D50, the NN3 pano head and the Sigma 10-20mm zoom. I've since upgraded to a Nikon D800E, the NN5 and the Nikkor 14-24 zoom, which is nowadays my main shooting gear. Along the way, I also owned a D3, which is an awesome camera. The D800E shoots more pixels, with a better dynamic range, but I long for the "built like a tank, never fails" feel of the D3.

In many of my panos I make a liberal use of HDR - I usually shoot several exposures (from 3 to 9), and decide at post-processing time whether or not to use HDR. With the D800E, and visibly better dynamic range, I only seldom have to resort to HDR, especially as tools got better too at extracting highlights and shadows from Raw files (LR4).

Software-wise, my workflow uses Lightroom, Photomatix where applicable, and a liberal pinch of Photoshop. DxO was a must to remove non-linear distorsions from the images coming out of the 14-24, until the same feature became available in Lightroom. To stitch images, I'm now using Autopano Pro, after several years of using Realviz Stitcher.

As a self taught photographer who became interested in photography since the beginning of the digital camera era, Marco Waagmeester is always striving to evolve his photographic knowledge and skills. After several years of underwater photography with a compact camera, Marco invested in a DSLR camera in 2009 and got equipment for the creation of spherical panoramas early 2010..

I like to move. To hike, to climb, to move my body in mountains, in places that charge me with energy. Every place in any second is unique. The photography gave me the power to freeze the time allowing me to enjoy these moments anytime I want. Let me invite you to enjoy them with me.

I am an experienced graphic designer who came to the world of 360 panoramic photography initially as an exploration into what was possible and also as a break from the normal day job. 360cities was my first contact with the 360 world and I have learnt much from other photographers on this site.

I'm a fan of the English countryside and I intend to show as much of Britain's hidden side as I can, as well as anything else that catches my eye...

A 360 degree spherical panorama enthusiast. While over 80% of Australia's population lives along the coast, I try to take a snapshot in time of the less populated but very scenic regional Australia.

My occupation is Environmental Geology work in California which takes me to various types of construction sites with unique settings for a 360 panaroma.  Also, with job sites all over the metro LA area, I stop at interesting, off the beaten path, locations I see traveling the backstreets of LA.

I use a Gigapan EPIC 100 motorized mount and a 17 foot tall tripod with various camera's ranging from a FUJI JZ 300 point and shoot to a Sony Alpha A350 DSLR.  My day job prohibits extensive travel, but I am available at sites within and in the vicinity of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

I do some web stuff and panoramas for fun and might start to put musical soundscapes to them when I get the motivation. I play keyboards and compose a bit ..  up a mountain .. with just the stream and the birdsong to accompany .. jazz and blues mostly. I have one son Michael, grandsons Jake and Lucas, Dad in Guildford UK, 4 brothers in the UK and 2 sisters - one living in Guildford and one out in Wisconsin. My wife is a retired Head-teacher (a.k.a. school principal). We share our time between the UK Brixham and to escape our compatriots to Český Jiřetín which is on the Czech/German Border we heard they gossip about us a lot but since we cannot understand much Czech it suits us just fine.

Thank you for viewing my page. I am not a pro-photographer, but 360cities.net provides every user or contributor the ability to see locations all across the globe in their full glory, without the boredom of check-ins, long haul flights and visa restrictions. I am keen to support this PC based luxury as best I can; taking photos from every interesting place I visit, whether it is in the Middle East, Europe or beyond. 

I visited Syria for my 40th birthday in 2011. I chose not to take my camera. My account on 360cities could have helped preserve those sights and locations before a pointless civil war destroyed 1000 years of history in a decade. I hope to never regret the omission of any hand baggage as much.

My first attempt at a  360° image was in 1991, inspired by David Hockney's photo-montage work from the early 80s. The process (with a point and shoot film camera) was hit-and-miss, and the final result less than impressive. I put my panoramic photographic career on pause. Experiencing the earliest QTVRs in the late 90s amazed me and piqued my curiosity, but it wasn't until RAW-based digital photography in the mid 2000s allowed me to combine my interest in CG and photography, and I plunged head-first in to a 360° visual world.

Mr. Frias has a Masters of Architecture degree and has served as an adjunct professor and lecturer. Alberto was born in Monterrey, Mexico. He received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Houston and was awarded the Graduation Honor Award for Design for his work on designing a place of meditation. Further inspired by the sublime experience of spiritual places, he created his master's thesis project "Transport" Perceptual Pod from his explorations on light, sound and space and received a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of New Mexico.

Well I'am living in The Netherlands and for some years busy with photography, and have been always interested in making panorama photo's. Most of the times these photos where images of 4-5 photo's stitched together. From here on I tried to make 360 pano's an noticed that it was very difficult to make these without a tripod. So I started making these photo's on the tripod but that still was not good enough. So I started to look what was needed to make perfect 360 panorama photo's. And on the internet I saw some Pano Heads, which I made myself from metal. And see here the result.

So I think it's a great way to freese an location with this photo techniek and than share it with the world.

I'm a photographer living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. I've done  both amateur and professional photography for the past thirty plus years and am now immersed in the world of 360 degree VR and HDR photography.

 

From in New York City, Jook Leung is a professional 360 Panoramic Photographer intent on capturing wide-view images of people in urban landscapes around the world.  His work has been described as "visually rich narratives depicting the intricacies of the world's cultures with the full spectrum of human emotion." Through his work, viewers can experience not only what the world looks like from a single vantage point, but the entire visual spectrum that they would have if they were spinning around in a circle while standing on the same point in real time.

I'm an architect, engineer, and I love travel and photography.

I got obsessed with spherical panoramas when I first discovered them in 2001, intrigued by the ability to capture the entire spherical scene in a single image and to share and explore these immersive worlds. I followed developments in this field from the old QTVR panoramas to when panoramas started appearing in the more flexible Flash format, to when it went mainstream through various smartphone apps and 360 cameras.

In 2010, I made my first spherical panorama using the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my DSLR, a tripod, and a Nodal Ninja MKII panohead. Many of my panoramas have been made using this setup and HDR bracketting. 

An Engineer by Profession , currently working on Multi Axis CNC Machines... I was intrested in photography from an  early age but never had the knowledge and gear ... when I saw a 360 Spherical pano on google earth for  the first time I was Amazed .. and at that very moment I knew , I am soon going to make one .. with the help of Google and Youtube I was able to achive it.....

Most of the Pano's are handheld . With every pano I make I learn a new thing and trying to improve ....:)

Allen Simmons received his bachelor's degree in Art from the University of West Florida. He also obtained degrees in Social Work and Education (M.Ed.). 

As a student he was selected for both the senior and honor's photography exhibits. 

He got his start in photography using a an old Kodak Brownie camera and has transitioned into the world of digital photography. 

Now days he uses a Nikon D800 and Sigma 8mm to create his panoramas. 

Allen currently resides in Tallahassee, Florida and calls the Panhandle of Florida his home.

Yiannis Koukourakis (yiankoukour@gmail.com) was born in Athens, Greece. His acquaintance with photography came by working as assistance in an advertising studio. He first studied at the department of Photography, of the Technological Institute of Athens (TEI). Afterwards continued his studies on Fine Art Photography by following postgraduate studies in England, sponsored by the Hellenic Republic State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).

He works as a professional photographer since 1994, at the field of commercial photography, advertising and social events, also in collaboration with editions and advertising companies. From 2001 to 2005 he was teaching Photographic Applications, as a Laboratorial Collaborator, at the School of Photography of TEI Athens. From 2016 to 2018 the Photography School of Munisipality IEK of Chania.

In parallel with his professional activities he also creates his Art Photography projects. Since the ‘80s, he had participated in various exhibitions and art festivals in Greece and abroad, winning awards, like the Kodak European Awards in Arles 1991, and participations at the Biennale of Young Mediterranean Artists in Marseille and Cordoba.

Yiannis is mainly interested in themes that deal with people and their interaction with environment. Also he is fond with technical application in studio,darkroom,and  360VR applications.
Since 2006 he lives and works in Chania, Crete, applying  a variety of photographic services localy and worldwide,  with professionalism and faithfulness to your creative needs.

 

 

Jeff was born and raised in the Philippines particularly in a small town of Negros Oriental named Dumaguete, officially known as "The City of Gentle People". He started taking photographs of people using D-SLR in mid 2010. His main interest is in lifestyle photography which involves taking portraits of family, engagement sessions, weddings, fashion/glamour and everyday life of people. Moreover, he also enjoys the unique way of art capturing photographs called 360 degree panoramas or the virtual reality where there is a human-computer interaction in which a real or imaginary environment is simulated and user interacts with, manipulate and take a virtual tour of the worlds iconic places. 

He is now currently based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates working as a full time software analyst and developer. For him photography was just an accident since his main hobby was all about sports and music. He plays badminton, table tennis, skateboarding and musical instruments particularly guitar. 

He also believes that taking a picture and setting up strobes is just the half of making a great photograph, but the time spent in post processing to make the photo more pleasing and more dramatic saturates more of the story behind it.

Furthermore, he also enjoys taking experimental and creative photographs to widen his arsenal such as high speed, light painting, perspective, compositing and walk-in zoom timelapse.

I am recently out of the Army National Guard and still identify closely with the military life. Possibly because I was Air Force from '84-'88 and joined the Army in 2007. In between those two periods of service, I have worn many hats. I first became interested in and connected to panoramic and HDR photography in 2004 when I went to work as Marketing Assistant for SpheronVR in Germany. I eventually moved back home to the States and when I left SpheronVR in 2006, I lost sight of panoramic photography for a while. In 2007, I joined the Army and was deployed to Kosovo from Apr 2008 until Apr 2009. While in Kosovo, I started experimenting again with handheld and tripod mounted cylindrical panos. Upon my return home, I purchased Manfrotto's 303SPH panohead. I found I didn't have the time to experiment properly with the equipment until this summer (2013). Now I'm learning something new about spherical panos everyday. I enjoy capturing scenic panos, especially historical or military related and am currently capturing panos by commission for local businesses. I am using a Nikon D40 with the 18-55mm lens. I intend to begin experimenting with my Nikkor 10mm fisheye in the future but not in a hurry until I upgrade to a camera with a higher resolution.

I often say that I am a photographer that does not necessarily specialize in anything, but rather have a vast experience in a wide variety of photographic fields. I often photograph things I enjoy doing and understand the best. Being a skydiving instructor, scuba diver, 6a Climber, cyclist and all round aviation and extreme sports enthusiast, I believe that I posses a few interesting characteristics and skills that separate me from the usual photographers. Simple things like difficult angles and challenging lighting does not put me off taking the perfect image in any environment. I am equally at home inside a purpose built studio and hanging from an abseil rope thousands of feet above the ground.That is all quite a mouth full and the only way I can think of explaining it better is by blogging about it. So on www.picturemyplanet.xyz you will find a few of my current favorite images and a small explanation of what they are all about. They might also be in other galleries on the same site where they will be accompanied by other photographs I enjoy.  I am skilled in conventional photography, 3D modeling and 360 x 360 degree imaging. My name is Brian Conroy. I live in Tigard, a suburb of Portland Oregon.

When I was a teenager I used to splice my photos together and make ultrawide panoramas. Once I discovered 360 panoramas in 2006 I was so excited I spent $2,000 on all the equipment I needed on line the next day and I never looked back. I love taking these photos. They do so much more to capture the spirit and time of place. I am very lucky to have been raised in one of the most beautiful states in the country. My dad  grew up in very rural central Oregon. During my travels, visited various places in Europe, Asia and Africa. Photographed wildlife in Uganda, volcanic gases rising from the craters of volcanoes in Kamchatka, was a sailor on a three-mast sailing frigate Shtandart.

I photograph for more than 20 years. Worked in a variety of genres, from reportage to studio costumed staged shots.

In photography, I try to show that part of the world, which usually escapes the gaze. Rare condition of human, dreams and fantasies, creative displays people around me, unique places of our planet, subculture ... All that shows that the world is more complex and interesting than commonly believed.

Besides the usual photos in 3D photography and computer-graphics.

I taught photography in a design college and Photo courses. Conducted photo safari in Uganda, Nepal, Kamchatka, Baikal. I participated in many exhibitions: International Exhibition of 3D pictures "Stereotypes" (St. Petersburg 2011), Spring forever! (Moscow. 2007), The Beauty of Russia throuh Photographic Lens (Richmond, USA. 2005), Personal exhibition "Chimera" (Moscow, Cult Club, 2004), and others."

Hello, my name is Timothy Oldfield, a virtual tour photographer (actually, the ONLY 360° photographer) with Washington State 360.  ;)

The Washington State 360 Project is my way of assisting with the "warm introduction" to various locations around the state of Washington in these United States of America.

Most of the 360-degree (fully-spherical) panoramas I capture or create are now being posted here on "360cities.net", and many are also being shared on Google Street View and Google Maps through my Trusted Photographer account, and Local Guide account (for posting of snapshots, often voluntarily, to assist small businesses and non-profits with editing and otherwise delineating their Maps listings). If you have a VR headset, Google Cardboard viewer, or other stereo viewer, click on the tiny cardbord goggles icon and enjoy another level of experience.  ;)

Studies have shown that VR Tours (sets of Virtual Reality panoramas) can boost visitor-count dramatically.  Once virtually in-the-door, your location becomes more engagingly "familiar", which allows most virtual visitors to more easily drop residual resistance, and perhap raise their curiosity, thereby increasing the likelihood of visiting for real.  Which in turn allows them to promote your establishment to acquaintences.

While building these collections of 360-degree panoramas, I also enjoy keeping the locations and subjects diverse.  Sometimes it is fun to allow a viewer to experience a perspective not generally open to the public (for safety, insurability, security or other reasons), such as venturing into a production area or out onto a condemned bridge, etcetera.  What would you like to share from a unique perspective?

I have been an enthusiastic photographer since the 1970's shooting with my dad's Pentax spotmatic, later converting to Canon film-based. I finally made a move to digital in 2004, and stuck with Canon to reuse my lenses. I still dabble in film with my prida and joy being a Mamiya RB67 Medium Format camera.

My portfolio has been tied closely to my work and my other hobbies. My portfolio included entertainment, portrait, model, live events, landscapes, and travel photography. I have been official photographer for the Vonk Afrikaans music awards for two years and also for the first Ghoema Music awards in 2012. 

As landscape photographer I have dabbled with wide panorama's but the 360 degree bug has only recently bitten me on a trip to Saudi Arabia. I did some work with a photographer based in Saudi Arabia who has been doing 360 degree panos for their Department of Tourism, and I promptly started doing the research, picked up a Panohead and an 8 mm Sigma lens and have been experimenting with the Sigma, and with other format lenses.

I still have a lot to learn, and participating in- and tudying all the amazing works on this site is a step for me to explore the possibilities that this form of photography offers to those who would like to get to know it.

I'm a hobby photographer who heard his jaw drop to the floor when he saw his first interactive panorama (Jay Leno's studio). I've been shooting panoramas myself since 2001. In 2006 and 2007 I contributed to the board of the PanoTools and PanoToolsNG mailinglists, but since life has more than one priority, I had to step back. Nowadays I predominantly shoot panoramas during holidays and publish them on my web site.

The Drivepano project aims to bring 360º High Quality Street View Images to the 360cities network.
I developed this project last year (2008) more as a proof of concept, but soon I began to enjoy riding my PanoCar and capture 360x180º panoramas with one click.
The Drivepano system uses a Multicam One Shot solution to capture thousands of High Quality geo located panoramas in a matter of hours.

In 1998 I was asked to provide online panoramic content for Virgin Atlantic. This comprised of photographing multiple aircraft cabins and various Virgin Clubhouses and departure lounges at Heathrow and Gatwick. The project was a success and my interest in high resolution panoramic photography was born.

Two years later I was recording the construction of the new steps, from the National Gallery to Trafalgar Square, in panoramic format and converting to video for TfL.

I was born in Milan, Italy, in December 1967.

In 2019, I moved with my family to Lovere, a beautiful medieval village (although its earliest historical traces date back to a few decades before Christ, with a necropolis found beneath the current football field of the Oratory) on the western shore of Iseo Lake, just a few steps away from Val Camonica.

I love music, photography and art in general, and whenever I can, I enjoy traveling!

For a few years now, I have been experimenting with immersive photography, aiming to showcase the beauty of our territory and share it online.

Born 1968 in New Zealand, by the time I was 6 I found that a steady supply of empty cigarette packets were a great place to draw, and I did to a large degree. Because these packets were small my sketching became quite detailed; which is the reason why for the rest of my life I was so obsessed with detail, often much to the annoyance of my friends. Now though not quite so much as age has brought, to a certain degree, the ability to compromise.

In 1977 we moved to Windsor England and I've lived in the area ever since.

In 1986 I can remember walking past a camera store and being fascinated by the cameras. It wasn't long before I had my first camera and yes you guessed it, an Olympus OM10. It wasn't too long before I had the mother of all systems; a Nikon F3 and all the accoutrements.

I acquired a passion for super field of view quite early on and was often taking multiple shots with just a 50mm and sticking them together to make photo montages or mosaics.

For a long time after I didn't touch a camera until about 2007, when I realised that with modern tech I could do everything and more that I always dreamed of doing back in the late eighties, early nineties.

The equipment I use is:

Canon 5D mkII with either EF 15mm or Sigma 8mm put on a Manfrotto 303SPH panorama tripod head then edited with a combination of Photoshop CS5, Autodesk Stitcher Unlimited 2010 and Pano2VR.

Thanks for taking a look at my gigapixel panoramic images.  These images average 220 Megapixels and are each created from over 100 pictures from my camera.  I also shoot larger, rectangular panoramas that can be as larger as 5 Gigapixels and are also available at Photosynth.net and GigaPan.org, where I am known as GigaView and GigaView360, respectfully. 

In April 2010, I made a virtual tour of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River in northern Arizona, United States.  Through 360Cities.net, you are now able to join my friends and I on our rafting adventure through the jewel of America's Best Idea.  From several of our lunch stops, camp sites, and side canyon hikes, you will find deeply immersive panoramas that are now also available in the rich context of Google Earth.  The virtual tour is called Grand Canyon GigaView.

My personal work, my passion is fine art nature and landscape photography. A great hobby but no way to make a living these days! I enjoy extracting the little things out in the woods and prairies - insects on flowers, abstract forms and colors that others may pass by unnoticed. The flip side of that are grand landscapes and cloudscapes of the prairies, lakes and forests near my home. I have been experimenting with different techniques lately – focus stacking (PS5), spherical panoramas (PTgui) and HDR (Photomatix). In general I do most of my editing in Adobe Lightroom 3, then some Photoshop as necessary. I try to keep editing to a minimum – cropping, color correction and sharpening. Photography has always been something for which I've always had an affinity. So much so that I persued and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in photography at Sam Houston State University. I've freelanced and was the photo editor of the university newspaper for a few years. I am currently serving in the United States Navy and have had the good fortune to have literally been around the world. While photography is not my job in the Navy (I'm actually a nuke electrician), it's still very much a hobby and something on which I'm still trying to hone my skills. I find that these 360 panoramas are as much a techincal challenge as much as it is an artistic challenge. They bring me back to far flung place I may never visit again, as if I were actually there. I like the cubic panoramic photograph I've managed to learn and time to me is a sport.

I started with 360 photography in 2015, when I realized that it was the only way to capture some of the places we were visiting on our 3 year odyssey on our sailboat, Dream Catcher.

Now that our boat is gone and we're back on land, I can visit these places again and dream of the water and unlimited vistas.

Climbing, traveling, photography and science are the important activities in my life. These activities are connected with each other and they are helping me differently on my way of life. I do climbing since 1998. The first place it brought me where (after almost whole Europe) was Peru (2003). Afterwards I´ve visited Russia (Kaukaz), Canada, Madagascar and U.S. My first digital camera was OlySP500 (in 2006), now I´m using Nikon D200. Since the very first moments I was captured and fascinated by the world of panorama pictures. My aim is to capture and document places I´ve visited as realisticly as possible and here you can see some of my results.

Norm Olson has been a photographer for over 50 years. He is a retired biologist from the University of California San Diego and he spent his career taking both film and digital images with an electron microscope.  Norm has extensive experience printing images in the wet darkroom and he is also a fine-art, digital printer. He is always looking for color, the strong contrast of a good image created in black and white, and the strong design elements that are abundant in nature. I've always been interested in photography, especially digital photography.  When I discovered panoramic photography, I was immediately hooked.  It has limitless possiblities and a fantastic future I think.  While the equipment and software can be some what pricey, the reward is well worth it.  I hope you enjoy my panos!

I'm rather a sporadic pano-photographer. I've read a lot more. Panotools[NG] lurker since 2004. I didn't think digital cameras would take on particularly well because they just took tooo long between pressing the shutter button and taking the photo, until Nikon's D70 cemented digital photography's validity for me.

We would like to create the best virtual Vietnam in the world where you can find and see 360° panorama photos in virtual tours from all of important place, landmark, museum, heritage, building, hotel, restaurant, bar, shop, showroom, company, factory, mall, government office, park, water park, theme park, entertainment place .... etc.
